Is Hawkins a genius?

I'm curious whether anyone has thought about this possibility other than me (or if I've just become delusional from this year's dismal performances)

Is it possible that Hawkins knows that he has a daunting non-conference schedule ahead of him and feels that quality wins over quality opponents are more important than non-conference cream puff wins...

And if he does see things that way, is it possible that he's intentionally being very conservative in play calling and putting play makers on the field so that our next big opponents West Virginia (I know that's a non-conference game, but it's still a big-time game & opponent) and Texas don't have any film or ability to scout our big play makers which would give us a better shot at catching them by surprise? Or are we really as phucked as we've looked the last few games?

As much as I've hated how we've looked the last 3 games (yes, including our one win over wyoming), I would consider Hawkins a genius if we were to walk into Morgantown and Austin and really be competitive with plays and play makers that no opponent (or CU fans for that matter) have seen before - and therefore have trouble defending...?

I considered that possibility. Maybe the funk will be released 10/1, with the mojo and the horns will come out. Maybe Lite Beer really is less filling and doesn't taste great. Maybe Hawk does know how many licks it takes to finish a Tootsie Pop. Maybe Cold Fusion has been perfected in Gamow Tower and the Buffs will run the A-11 vs. the conference schedule. Perhaps BHO will admit he was born in Kenya, TBD will be named Fed Chairman and Erin Andrews really is asking around Boulder for my phone number. Maybe Skiddy and UBT are pulling taffy as we speak. Maybe 'rino is simoninzing Snowbunny's Prius as an act of contrition and Sacky is presiding over the UFCW/King Soopers labor talks/kum by ya session. Anything's possible.....

I wouldn't count on it. Great imagination though.

Maybe my thought that Dan is waiting for the engineering department to finish the robot football players is not so crazy after all. :smile2:

We should have been able to beat both CSU and Toledo with a conservative offense. We should have been able to run just 15-20 plays out of multiple formations and beat both of them. Those two losses definitely indicate something alarming with the team rather than just going conservative before playing WVU and Texas.

While anything is possible I don't think so. That would be above and beyond the "trick knee defense".

I remember people using this logic last year after the first few games. We looked pretty mediocre against CSU and EWU. People suggested that the coaching staff simply hadn't opened it up. The rest of the season debunked that.

Stop trying to figure out how things will instantly turn around. They won't. This staff needs to figure out how to get things moving in the right direction. Soon.

That's a plan that only a 7 year old juice box drinking dreamer would come up with. Wait a minute...
