(background -- I don't post often, and have avoided posting this year because it's been sooooo darn rough on me this season. been drinking tonight, so bear with me in this post)

but damn. we had this game tonight. I need to vent....

we're 1 -3 on the road vs #2 in the nation. #2 gets 28 points via special teams, D, and long play. Lose by 24 points. Unreal way to lose a game.

more background: I'm a total homer. Total glass half full guy. Total optimist. (and more than drunk right now) I went into this week assuming we'd lose, but the second the game started, I reverted into game mode, thinking we'd win. Kills me when I feel like we have a chance to win and we piss it away. I'm not at all happy with Hawk, but it's the Buffs I root for. Hawk drives me up a wall, but I'm about the team, not the coach. Anyway..

I'm not sure what to think about burning TH's redshirt. Part of me is happy, part pissed. Crappy time to burn it, but lets be honest, Cody had some HORRIBLE throws prior to him being pulled. Not happy about Tyler coming in and then going to what seemed like virtually a 100% passing attack.

We had this game and pissed it away.

Anyway, just wanted to vent. We had them tonight. Ugh.

I'm with you on this. And despite the loss, it felt GOOD to feel good about the buffs again.

What else can you do at this point? You can't run your way back. You have to pass the ball at that point in the game.

Agree, but I've got the fear that it'll be the "we put him in, but obviously, he just couldn't produce" excuse. Considering that we were just gonna pass, why not keep Cody in the game (and yes, I have to say his arm looked REALLY weak tonight) if that was gonna be the plan? IMO, if you're gonna play Hansen, at least play him when you can play him to what his strengths are. Otherwise, it's pointless.

That thought crossed my mind, too. What a snake move that would be if Hawkins did that.

Coach has painted himself in a corner. He pretty much has to ride with Hansen the rest of the way or look really bad -- worse than he has all season.

I really believe Cody is done. If they went back to Cody Dan would have a revolt on his hands imo. I really believe that.

I know we're on the same page here, but I just want to win. I don't care if it's Cody, Tyler, Clark, Seth, Jim, Bob, Joe, Frank, Al, Ed, ..... Just find the guy that helps us the most and works the best in the offensive scheme that we're gonna play.

I'm not sure if we have that caliber of QB on the roster. It's kind of sad really. TH is not the answer to CU's problems. I'm sure Hawkins is praying Tyler can win enough games to give him a chance to bring in a quality QB.

First, if we're going to play Hansen, he needs to be able throw it better than Hawk. If he can't, there's no sense in putting him in. That said, look at his throws, he completed a screen pass, which we've been almost entirely unable to do this year, then he made a very nice pass to Simas that was called back because of a hold. The rest of the game he was behind the chains on every play because our OLine completely imploded with false starts, holds, and failures to block anyone.

The throws he did make showed me that his arm is much stronger than Hawk's. I think just the possibility of a deep throw will help. I think the fact that out routes can go further than 5 yards without such a fear of a pick-6 will help. Then you add on that he has the ability to scramble and make plays with his feet, that has to help.

He probably doesn't know the offense as well, but even if our passing plays are simplified, as long as they make the D more honest, it should really help out our O. We will see, but I'm hopeful at this point.
