What this progrma is known for in the last 10 years...

Winning cures all...

(See, Denver Broncos)

Change whatever you want off the field (better GPA, staying out of trouble, better life people) bottom line, if you want to erase it, win.

(Also see, Michigan)

It seems everyone forgot about the RichRod's allogations pre-season, with the winning start.

Winning cures all... Winning should be #1 priority.

Quotes from the NCAA Infractions Committee's September 17, 2009 Rebuttal to Alabama's textbook rules violations appeal:

- Alabama is a "serial repeat offender".
- Alabama has an "abysmal infractions track record".
- Alabama is "an institution with an appalling and unprecedented infractions history".
- Alabama has an "extensive recent history of infractions cases unmatched by any other member institution in the NCAA".

What will be the end result if this were said about CU?

Competing for a national championship??? :smile2:

I 100% disagree.

I 100% disagree.

I understand 100% disagreement that "winning cures all". That's too much of a blanket declarative statement (obviously).

But do you really disagree with winning as the #1 priority for a CU coach?

I'm astonished by that, if that's what you believe.

Yes. Winning is NOT the #1 priority. That is not to say it isn't a high priority. But it is NOT the #1 priority.

Big difference in my mind between being the #1 priority and being a high priority.

The number #1 priority means to me that we would accept a coach who is willing to break the rules and look the other way all for the sake of winning.

That's ridiculous reasoning.

You're making "winning is the most important thing" synonymous with "winning is the only thing".

But I get your point. If Hawkins was winning, you wouldn't want that to be so important that he didn't get fired over his police blotter and APR issues with his teams here.

I firmly believe that when you make winning the most important thing for a program, you make it all to easy for people to look the other way because you are winning.

I don't think we are in disagreement that winning is very important and that a coach MUST win to keep his paycheck coming. I just think the most important thing should be providing an environment for our student athlete's to be successful off and on the field.

Can't winning be #1 and #2 be to win clean? I get what you're saying and I don't think winning the cheating way is acceptable at all. I just think it's a coaches job to win games as the #1 priority. In college there are numerous other things that he is also responsible for as well.

Put it this way. When I had a sales job, my #1 priority was to grow sales. That meant that the company would put up with some stuff if I was killing it in sales. But it didn't mean I could sexually harass employees, steal from the company or whatever.

And if the sales in my territory were declining, it really wasn't going to save my job if I had perfect attendance and punctuality, dressed the part, was courteous and professional at all times, always turned in a clean expense report, etc.
