You may want to pick up todays Denver Post and check out the "CU Briefs." The men do read these message boards.

didn't the Dline say they used the internet sCUm calling them the "weak" link as motivation to go out and kick UT's ass?

Good work guys!

"We talked about how we were kind of sick of reading (on Internet fan sites) that we were the 'weak link' on the team," recalled Forrest West, a freshman from Connecticut who is now listed as a starter at left defensive end.

You may not think just bashing the coaches doesn't effect the young men, but I'd bet it does. They are a team, and that includes the staff.

lemme see here...

1. We bash coaches for failing to prepare the players.
2. Players get pissed.
3. Players go out and kick some ****ing ass.

Ok, now lets start talking about that OLINE!

Wow - so if I'm reading this correctly, and I like to think that I am, then that means that us allbuffers are better at motivating the team than the coaches are...what does that tell you about our coaching staff?

Sounds like allbuffs should earn a full time spot on the coaching staff

I don't buy it. If the D-Line is relying on reading message boards for inspiration, I really am concerned about the state of the team. Playing UT on national TV should be enough to get them fired up.

These kids don't play football because it happens in a vacuum, part of the reason they play is the rush they get from performing in front of a crowd. If they do well, the crowd is happy, if they do poorly, well, they know what to expect. If they want the good, they have to take the bad.

Part of our right, as fans, and in free speech is to critique the play of the team. We try not to bash the players individually and do a pretty good job, but if they can't handle constructive criticism, they will fail at life.

I guess that's one way to look at it.

To me, the more important point is to be careful in what you say.

Why is that the more important point to you? I don't have any desire for Buff players to believe that the fans do not support them, but the simple take away from that article was they don't want to be seen as a weak link. Good for them. They looked very good against UT and I hope that continues.

Hawk is the one getting bashed, fans have been critical of cody's play. I don't re-call anyone bashing certain defensive players here. Sometimes it goes over-board and I agree, it's not right but it's time the hawk and the players focus on games and winning instead of what internet scum have to say.

Other than a certain dumb**** bashing Cody---I dont think players have been getting bashed here.

Maybe they read net****.

There are tons of examples of us talking about the players. Tons. Everyone is a critic and when a team is playing bad, there is critiquing. It's not bashing to say the D-Line is the weak link.

There's plenty of critiquing going on as it does on every school's boards. The players are capable of putting it into perspective. You going to listen to what some fat guy on his couch at home thinks or do you listen to Greg Brown, who's coached in the NFL? Hmmm......

I'm tired of being bashed by my wife for leaving my socks lying around the house

So? I don't know what the other boards are like but here we expend 90% of our energy hating on Hawk. Any player reading our posts would see that we don't have a problem with them as much as we do our brain dead staff. I realize how hyper-sensitive you are and how much you love Hawk. That's fine but you're not going to get us to stop bashing him. This is a fight you cannot win.

I don't want players reading message boards if they're going to get their feelings hurt. This is football, not cheerleading (despite all the cheerleaders we have on this board).

good job guys, way to motivate the D-Line!!

Let's if we fire up the special teams and the offense tonight and tomorrow.
Then we should be mentioned on the staff and the Media Guide.

Well if Hawk won't do it, we will. DBT do you really see this as a bad thing? They saw that they were being seen as a weak link by fans, they played great. I'm sure Hawk told them internet scum aren't true fans and they were playing great, but deep down they knew they had to play better.

Well, I think it was more of a shot at fan message boards. I doubt if reading negative **** is what motivated them. I'd imagine that they were pretty self motivated. But after their excellent performance against ut, he took the opertunity to get a jab in. I hope you guys don't really believe that you are the ones responsible for the D-lines performance!

I like the performance of our DL against UT, but how about you wait til you WIN A FREAKIN' GAME against anyone of substance before gloating?

Oh come on man! The young man was asked a question by a reporter. What the **** is he supposed to say? Sheesh. Chill out a little.

Whatever motivated them, we need more of it. I don't really think he saw some thread on allbuffs and thought to himself, "I better get in the backfield this weekend." All I know is it probably wasn't some motivating speech from Hawk that got them going.

I hope you think hawk is responsible for all this negative vibe that surrounds the program.

i dont bash the players i mainly say ds should get his shot 15+ carries a game lets see what he does... oh **** nevermind that wont ever happen hawky doesnt want him to get more carries then stewart...:deadhorse:

You're the one saying the "young man" was taking a jab at internet fans. If he truly was taking a jab, as you suggested, then it was a stupid move on his part.

I'm sure it's tough on the players when they're exposed to the real world. Nothing negative is ever permitted inside the Hawkins sunshine & rainbows positivity bubble.

When one of the players reads the message boards, it must be like finding out Mommy wasn't completely honest when she said the he was the smartest, handsomest, most perfect little boy.
