I posted this poll about a month ago...lets see how/if opinions have changed...

What are your opinions of coach Hawkins to this point?

Last poll results:

1 - .76%
2 - 1.53%
3 - 43.51%
4 - 8.4%
5 - 45.81%

I still believe Hawk can turn it around. He just needs a QB.

I agree with you to a point. A QB would make a world of difference, but Hawk still hasn't shown a consistent ability to game plan, to adjust, to motivate or to develop.

I voted (with my tongue NOT in cheek) "we'll see."

I get pretty tired of seeing the buffs lose (I was in Austin last week), but I see some of the stuff that Hawk sees when he keeps saying that the team is "close." I don't think it makes any difference what your average fan (such as myself) thinks, so I can't get too caught up in the hate. If Hawk's gonna be fired, Bohn will fire him. Bohn as the dog won't be wagged by the tail of fan support. No sense in getting all worked up about it.

Besides, the program has enough hate coming at it from the Mary Keenans and Lisa Simpsons of the world, not to mention a local media that is openly hostile and CSU and nubs jerks.

I voted that he's the savior of the program.

:smile2:
Being a Husker fan you want another contract extension for Juicebox.
What a wise move that was, and based on what? I was totally against it when they gave it to Juicebox., He's that white stuff on the top of chicken $hit.

I think it all depends on this weekend. If he can't beat KU then I don't see us beating Neb or Mizz and will probably split KSU and ISU. That is just unacceptable and he will have to go.

Mid October is pretty late in the season to finally get the team ready to play.

I expect more, you expect more, the team expects more from a 4 year coach with a 3rd year QB.

And wide receivers, and the list goes on. Keep beating a dead horse - it's your right and opinion. I don't agree with it.
How am I beating a dead horse? I was just answering B1's question. Jeez.:lol:

I don't understand why people get so upset when I support Hawkins. I like the way he does things. He might not succeed here in Boulder, but I believe the guy is a good coach. Uh oh, there I go again.....:deadhorse::smile2:

If Cody stays on the bench the rest of the year, he might be able to combat the negative recruiting and land a blue chip.

I think Dan knows this. If I was an asst. coach at another school, I'd certainly be in that recruits ear about Cody.

At this stage of the game, it's not relevant anymore. I can see where this may have been an issue when we were recruiting Landry Jones, but now? I don't see it. Cody will be gone before any kid being recruited would ever see the field anyway.

I disagree.

Why in the world would you want to support a guy who has basically disrespected all CU fans by saying they don't know what it's like to take a risk? What? I don't know about you my friend, but my 401 plan is directly related to the performance of my company's stock. Most companies have gone to this kind of 401 plan, which means your retirement is directly affected by what happens to your company in the future. If that's not a big, huge risk - I don't know what in the hell is? WTF does Juicebox know about taking a risk? Thanks to CU he will get a buyout worth millions for failing at his job. You and me would be fired with no golden parachute. He won't have to worry about anything for the rest of his life financially. I ask you this - what has he given CU in return?

I back him because I agree with everything he says about CU fans. Investing money into a company matched 401K plan is not taking a big huge risk, then you are right, you don't know what a big huge risk is.

I have friends who have lost tens of thousands buying company stock. I don't think they would agree with you. If the plan is based on stock, it's only as good as the value of the stock. So you are saying Juicebox is right in saying CU fans don't know what they are talking about? Do you appreciate somebody telling you you don't know jack? Especially somebody who is grossly underperforming at their job.

From what I can see most sports fans in general don't know have a clue about what they are talking about. So yes I agree with Hawk. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Chilly,

Most fans are idiots. (Or at least come off that way at times because we're posting drunk or emotionally.) I don't mind him thinking that the media and fans don't know what the hell we're/they're talking about... because 99.9% of coaches think the same thing.

But Hawkins is a world class dumbass to fail at PR so badly that he actually says it. That, to me, is what makes you go :wtf: about the guy.

I think that's the thing that gets to me the most, besides losing of course, is his inability to deal with the media. It's not like the Denver media is really that tough or overwhelming. I'm pretty disappointed in how he's managed this whole deal.

The worst thing a college coach can do is lash out at fans, many of whom are alums. When you start badmouthing fans, it does not take much for them to get offended. He needs to drop the "they have never taken risks" BS quickly IMO, it is only hurting him at this juncture.

I agree. It was the same when Barnett was talking about the fans getting their knowledge from Madden video games. Might be true, but something you probably shouldn't say to the media.
