I listed all the guys I've seen mentioned a lot. No reason to limit it, though.

If you vote "Other", it would be cool to post who you like and why.

give the man a moment. the thread posts while one works on the poll to go with it. assuming he knows what he is doing. :smile2:

Thanks for the confidence (and patience). I had it nailed like a drunken cougar, baby!

On the list:

1. Patterson
2. Strong
3. Cabral (Too sentimental I suppose, but he's paid some dues)

Gary Patterson is my number one choice, but I do not think he is all that interested in coaching here.

How about Jeremy Bates, USC Assistant Head Coach, former OC for the Broncos under Shannahan.

In last week's SI, Nutt was quoted as saying he would love to coach in a conference other than the SEC, I say we get him!

My realistic wish list;

1) Niumatalolo
2) Calhoun
3) Patterson
4) Gill

Run the ball.

Awesome! More sanctions.

Someone who can win 3/4 of the games year in and year out.

Someone whose team is competitive and 'in it' in most of the ones he doesn't.

I like Patterson, but he's a defensive coach, along with the other strong candidates on the list... We're good.

Bring in an OC, now. Please. One who can at least give this offense an identity.

We're in the bottom half of the Big 12 in every defensive category. I would say we have a lot of room for improvement on that side of the ball.

Patterson would be great, but I doubt he'd come here.

I caught up with a friend from college that played at CU. I told him how I want Bienemy to come back to CU, and that our players would not give anything less than 100% under him. He agreed, and he told me how during special teams practices, he would be sometimes more afraid of Bienemy knocking him over than other players. Bienemy was rough and in your face, but it got results. He's gotten results everywhere he's been so far as a RB coach. Sure, I understand that he doesn't have any coordinator experience, but why not let that experience come at CU? Sooner or later, we need to get him back in Boulder - he's stated that CU is his dream job before.

Yeah I know.. I'm talking about this poll..

Reason I didn't put Bienemy on the list, fwiw, is because of some "scoop" that AZ provided. He said that EB would come as Embree's OC but doesn't see himself as quite ready to be a HC yet. Since AZ's pulling hard for Embree (and he's a bigger EB guy than he is a JE guy), I figured this was reliable information and excluded Bienemy. Feel free to vote for him as an "Other" candidate, though. I agree it would be great to get him back on campus.

Let me toss a name out and see what may bite: Gary Kubiak

I am not sure he will be with the Texans at the end of the season and he won't get another HC job so his choice will be a coordinator position in the NFL or goes to college, just a thought. I checked their schedule out and it is sort of rough and I will be surprised if the Texans are above .500 at the end of the season. Houston may make a move.

Dream hires would be Shanny, Kubs, or Gruden.

Barring that, I'd like to have someone with major defensive chops, or someone who has more than a Pop Warner level understanding of the runnning game.

Troy Calhoun spent time learning from Shanny. Nuf said.

The DC at Bama, Kirby Smart, is a young comer who will end up as an HC sometime soon. He's done well everywhere he's coached. Has spent time as a running backs coach in the SEC, and has worked with Saban since '06 learning defense from one of the best.

Gary Patterson would be great. Not sure he's a 'Boulder Guy', whatever the **** that means, but he knows how to win football games.

Not real high on Charlie Strong. He has the benefit of all that talent down there, and Florida's D still isn't all that impressive.

Just say 'no' to the spread offense gurus. MU, KU, TT, & OU are all struggling bigtime this year. Defenses are starting to get it figured out. It's inherently inconsistent, unless you actually have Tim Tebow under center. For most teams, if the QB has an off-day passing, it's an automatic 'L'. Tebow runs well enough to compensate when his passing is a little off. Why run an offense where you're almost guaranteed to lose a couple games a year because the QB is a little off?

I voted Kelly, but I'm not sure he's realistic. Patterson would be 1-A, but again I'm not sure we could get him to Boulder.

I really like Calhoun, that thought really intrigues me. Such a polar opposite of Hawk personality wise, which might be a very good thing right now.

Another name that got a lot of discussion was Chuck Heater at Florida. I guess he's another option for "other"...
