Recruits at the Mizzou game

I don't know.

My credit card number was lifted recently so I cancelled it for a new one.

The fringe benefit? My auto-pay to Scout ended and I no longer have information on visitors.

You can always look for this info in the stickied "CU Recruiting Hot List" thread in the Football Recruiting forum.

Rumor has it that Buffnik does an allsome job on that thread. :wink2:

SaQwan Edwards, WR, though not highly touted just yet... Would be a HUGE pick up!

Just saying...

(Plus... He's a no-star right now, so he should get a good shot at playing early).

edwards is putting up a really nice senior year. would be a solid pick up.

Supposedly SaQwan's quarterback, a potentially big 2011 recruit, is also coming on an unofficial. This is a huge weekend for our recruiting.

Can we really be calling for a coaching change and also interested in who is visiting in the same season? It doesn't matter.... Few will stick we wholesale change. If Hawkins goes, no more than 1-2 assistants would be back if any.

Pretty much everyone committed is a Hagan or Cabral recruit (or committed to the school instead of a coach relationship). Those are the guys that need to stay on board in order to keep this class together.

Hawk supposedly sells the school and not the coaches or whatever his line is, hopefully it's true and we keep the commits we have.

If you believe headlines on a premium site ...
Add Paul Jones to this list. ***QB, currently Penn State commit.

Jones is a very interesting prospect. He's 6'3" and over 220 lbs (with the frame to get a lot bigger). Pennsylvania kid who was a junior year Penn State commit but said back in April that he'd be looking around. 4* on Rivals and 5* on Scout. He may be looking for an opportunity to play earlier than he could at PSU, especially since they've gone to more of a dual threat QB offense and Jones is more of a pocket passer. He can move a bit, though, just not great straight line speed (which is why some scouts compare him to Donovan McNabb).

If we could land him, it might be the biggest QB "get" in the history of CU recruiting. Cross your finger.

...wow...how the hell did we get Paul Jones to come visit? That's rather amazing and comes from left field, at least to me. It'd be great if we landed him, but at the same time, I'm satisfied with Hirschman.

Just a guess, but Penn State has a LOT of QBs, and he wanted early playing time. It is one advantage we can offer.

Paul Jones is set to come visit. That being said, he is a Hagan recruit. Hagan would be the first assistant to go in the off season if they gut the staff. He may be a buff but is a terrible coach, the kids don't like him and his recruiting is suspect. I have held this back for a long time but feel now is as good as any to let it out.

EDIT: This has been echoed by many in and around the program. Not opinion, but fact.
suspected the coaching thing, but damn, what do you mean by suspect recruiting? :wow:

Can't really argue that he has been a good coach, but his recruiting? What's the overwhelming opinion of some of the other coaches on the staff that recruit 1 player every few years then..

I'm not sure I get the "suspect recruiting" thing either in regard to Hagan.

So far this year, he's been the lead guy on Mister Jones, Lowell Williams and Daniel Munyer. He's closed them to verbals and has a bunch of good prospects still on his "Target" list.

It could be in reference to the previous class when he was in on a lot of guys but only landed Deji Olatoye (great find) and Josh Moten (didn't get into CU). And then there's the 2007 class when only Anthony Wright got in and stuck from a Hagan class that included Wright along with Josh Smith, PT Gates, Devan Johnson & Lamont Smith.

But in between was 2008 when Hagan's guys were Ray Polk, Doug Rippy, Darrell Scott and Rodney Stewart. Hard to argue with that.

Maybe the issue is the inconsistency and that he targets too many guys that don't fit in with the direction of the program.

Pissbomber, it would be great if you could elaborate because I'm confused.

Adam does a great job at rivals...as does SD with the board but...Being the lead on a recruit and closing him are 2 totally different things. The last 3 years the only recruits he should get any credit for at all are: Josh Smith, Rodney Stewart and Dejia. You cannot give him any real credit for Scott. Also, what you cant read is the number of guys he is on that we lose. 4 last year. 2 of them are playing as true frosh elsewhere.

I wont but can name 4 guys on the staff who are far better recruiters. Lastly, to give him some credit, he is going into to the midwest, mainly Ohio and making some inroads. But that would need to last for some time to make it worth it.

Great info. Thanks.

My impression of the rest of the staff when it comes to recruiting:

Hawkins: Excellent
Kiesau: Excellent
Riddle: Excellent
Cabral: Excellent
Johnson: Good (but too early to tell for sure)
Brown: Good (but seems to be hit or miss with evaluations)
Bandison: Poor (but seems to be more active / improving)
Collins: Poor (would rather not have to recruit at all)
Foster: N/A (recruiting not part of his job description)

I would have put Hagan in between Cabral and Johnson on the edge of Good/Excellent.

Interesting, if that's the case then Hagan has got to go, as much as it pains me to say it. His inability to teach anyone other than Sumler to pass block really bothers me. I was holding out hope his recruiting made up for the lack of improvement at the RB position, but apparently not.

Hawk has had 1 year that the class was top 25. Out of that class some of the top guys are no longer even on the team. Other top recruits from that class have still not given any significant contribution and are burried on the depth charts

Other than Cabral and the work he has done at LB, I would rate everyone else at average or below.

I just went back to some of Scott's recruiting stories and found this on Scout:
“I think it’s down to Texas and Colorado, and when he announces it, it won’t be a big surprise,” said Sonsini. “Those two schools are what he really likes. It’s kind of hard to choose between Coach (Dan) Hawkins and Coach (Mack) Brown.”
On Sunday, Colorado had their final in-home with Scott.
“It was positive and a good meeting. The coaches are dynamic men and dynamic coaches. He really enjoyed Coach (Darian) Hagan,” said [St. Bonaventure recruiting coordinator] Sonsini.

That's not conclusive, but it does speak well of Hagan.
