I had confidence going into the Kstate game, and for whatever reason I have confidence going into the Mizzery game.

I want Hawk gone as much as any of you but for some reason my optimism just won't stop.

I must be some kind of idot.

My name is Buffnik and I'm a buffaholic. It has been 4 days since my last drink of Kool-Aid. Weekends, especially Saturday mornings, are tough for me. I'm trying to hold out, but I fear that I will fall off the wagon again in a few days. :sad1:

This is what Bohn is counting on to keep people in the stands and funding out loser coach. Until people see clearly and stop contributing to the losing, they wont make a change.

already falling off the wagon... love watching the buffs (even tho we suck) too damn much!

:bang:

I see TH coming out and going nutso in Mizzou... goddamit.

This coaching staff makes no sense at all to many of us, besides Cabral, ambrose, and maybe Hagan. But i'm sure it hurts Hagan inside to see how far we've come since his glory days here at CU.

Im sure it does, good Lord, when is the last time we had 200 yards rushing when it used to be the norm?

Here is the thing though, if we lose this one we have to win out to play in the crackerjacks bowl. And that ain't happening.

Let's all drink to a 3-9 or at best a 4-8 season. Yay.

Being a Buff fan is a lot like playing golf. You play like crap for 17 holes, are totally ready to shred every one of your clubs and quit the game forever, but then chip in from 100 yards out on the 18th for an Eagle and you love the game again. You go back into the clubhouse and set your tee time for the next week. The fact that you just shot a 130 is irrelevant. You made a shot that would make Tiger Woods himself jealous, and that's all that's important.

Lots of drinking and gambling losses, too.

I personally love this roller coaster--it kind of reminds me of when you're at a club and you see a group of smokin' hot ladies and you know you have no chance. As the night goes on you keep pounding drinks and that group of girls get even hotter and you start to think "Hey, why not me? In fact I think I have a damn good shot at this". So you decide that it'll be a great idea to approach them and as you near them you trip over your sneaker and face plant into the bar. Eventually get up and walk home bloody and soaked in urine. This is our football team.

This is our football team... only if the next weekend you're out again and tell your wingman, "No worries. I know how to do this thing." :smile2:

Oh, That was you??!!

That would have been when GB was running the show.

Yea back when were were winning North titles 4 out of 5 seasons and bowling every season, those horrible Barnett years. I would give my left leg to have him back in town running the show.

I really don't care that Hawk has "improved the image" of the school, frankly that isn't his damn job. His job is to win football games.

I remember going to the last game we won against Mizzou. I flew in from NY the day before and was just buzzing the entire time, then Saturday came along and Lawrence Vickers was a one man show and we beat the living **** out of Brad Banks and Gary Pinkle, something like 42- 14, i forget the exact score. But that was Buff football, we ran the ball, we threw the ball the crowd was amped and then I went to Pearl Street and got drunk. Anyone else remember that game?

AHH memories. I want those days back.

Yes I know we got screwed in Ames the next week in a wind / lightning storm and then pounded in the Conference Championship game, but we were in it! Where are we now? Home watching all the bowl games and scoring 6 points against a horrible KSU team. It is sickening.

ugh.

GB was about to fall flat on his face. The cupboard was bare (of his own doing) and we got beat 77-3 in a nationally televised conference championship game. Hawk is not the answer (I hope he gets canned asap), but give me an effing break on GB.

Sweet Jesus! Texass just scored again!! :wow:

in the interest of full disclosure, my little brother was the guy behind firegarybarnett.com, or whatever it was. but he was also the guy who started the gold rush tees for $5 program, which is still alive as far as I know. we bleed black and gold.

At least that UT team was one of the best college football teams of all time. I would rather get killed by the players on that team on national tv, now we get killed by Toledo on national tv.

I was not sad to see GB gone, but for the most part his teams played with heart and passion. Juicebox is lucky if his teams show any heart for 1 game all year.

Really? If not for the dumbest play of Reggie Bush's life, that Texas team never would have even won a mNC.

Again, I want Hawk fired yesterday, but I'm pretty sure we played a much closer game against a slightly worse UT team at a slightly less neutral site just a couple weeks ago.

"Was about to fall flat on his face"

And what proof do you have of this? Oh yea none, because noone can predict the future. All I know is yes we did get beat 70-3 but IT WAS IN THE BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. We were playing in that game, you know the game that we would DIE to be in now. And oh by the way we were in it 3 out of 4 y ears before that and we also beat Texas in one of them.

I don't have to reiterate where we are now. But needless to say, we play with no emotion, and we get embarrassed on smaller levels each and every week. How do you score on your opening drive at KSU and then get shut out the rest of the way? Horrible play calling horrible coaching. GB wins that game easily with this squad. And a lot of others. I am just sick of the constant GB bashing when the guy won games and won them consistently

Holy cow. Revisionist history is right. How soon we forget that GB lost, no got his ASS KICKED by Baylor. He was a nightmare with the press. His recruits were meh. It's not like he had any great success with quarterbacks, either. His last team flat out quit on him. Nobody loses 70-3 who hasn't totally quit. They lost, at home, 30-3 to the worst *ebraska team of the last 50 years. I swear, if you can't get up for that game, you shouldn't be playing.

But now we're all of the sudden pining for the days of GB roaming the sidelines? guh.

He laid his fair share of goose eggs no doubt. However, no one has laid as many as the current resident of the same corner office at Dal Ward.

I would again submit to you all that ever since the recruiting scandal the team has been on a long and steady decline. It is my theory that admission standards were raised at that time and have not been relaxed. Its this squeaky clean, holier than thou, standard that will make it impossible for any resident of the corner office to recruit enough to be anything better than moderately competitive again. We're gonna be the Cal of the Big 12.

And what proof do you have of this?

The utter and complete lack of talent available to the next coaching staff. The way the entire team quit on him the last two games of 2005. You think Gary was reengaging everyone on the team and winning the Big XII North in 2006? Especially with the lack of talent on that team?

Gary may have been good for a few more wins over the last couple of years. Gary would not have had the recruiting classes Hawk has had and thus, even if I buy your argument that he is a better gameday coach (and I do), we're not exactly in a whole lot better position if he is still here.

And, FWIW, I would MUCH rather not be in the CCG than lose 70-3 in an absolute embarrassment to the entire University of Colorado institution and then hear about said embarrassment for months and years afterwards.

Once again, I point out this is not a post in favor of Hawkins.

I was pretty hot under the collar over the '03 Baylor game. But it is pretty undeniable, GB had his teams better prepared overall and I don't recall GB's teams, even as marginal as they were at the end, getting shellacked by the Toledo's of the world. IMO, DH has talent on the roster that is at least the equivalent of what GB had in '04 and '05...and he's getting his head kicked in by mid majors.

The KU win, while encouraging, was somewhat illusory. KU got manhandled at home by OU...playing their backup mustached QB. My guess is that TT will whack them too. DH is failing on the field, miserably. While I agree GB had run his course here and a change had to be made, fair or unfair, he was a better coach than juicebox by a mile...JMO.

It's a pretty safe bet that you'll get your wish; we will NOT be in another CCG anytime soon near as I can tell.

While GB backed into a couple of the ones he was in he only lost one of them badly. Dan Hawkins doesn't appear to be able to deliver even that. And your not going to win the recruiting war by turning 4, 5, and 6 sub 500 seasons.

If memory serves Coach Mac lost almost as badly to Nebraska in 1994 as GB lost to Texas in 2005. Mac's score was not as bad but the Buffs were totally ineffective against NU on both sides of the ball. The Huskers ran the ball and the Horns threw the ball. Both Mac and GB lost to the team that went on to become the Consensus National Champion.

Barnett actually lost a few CCG by a large margin, but the bottom line is he got the team there.

Nobody wants to get the living **** kicked out them, but to hope you team doesn't win the division for fear of a shellacking is weak, imo. The goal still in front of the Buffs to win the division, and at this point that is what we should want to see.
