After awhile I think I get numb to the situation...

I was up tailgating before the sun came up this morning and I sat in Folsom for every play of the game. But I found I reached the point where I am not even getting upset or mad...I just sit there and take it all in and know that the poor performances will continue because the guy at the top does not know how to get a team ready to play.

Yeah, after the first quarter I really wasn't surprised nor was I really angry. It's what I've come to expect out of this team anymore. I was hoping I could be proven wrong by Hawk and we wouldn't have to go through an ugly coaching change, but at this point I see no other option.

This happened to me after Toledo. I get a little peeved, but I don't go on my week-long depressions any more.

Hey! Maybe I should post this in the "Positives" thread!

Finding peace by accepting mediocrity. Whata concept. A genuine survival tactic.

Is the next step finding sympathy and kinship with Baylor and ISU hardcore fans?
Maybe even apologizing for decades of smuggery?

Oh noes!!

I think that's what Coach Hawkins meant when he talked about following incremental steps.

Apolgies are next.

First it's denial, then anger, then acceptance and finally indifference. We're approaching that last step at warp speed. If some serious changes aren't made soon, there won't be anybody left who gives a damn whether they make changes or not. It's like we all got in a time machine and went back to 1981.

i've never felt like i did in the stadium yesterday. speechless, grimly amused ("here we go again...."), furious, giving up....sort of all at the same time.

the deep handoff on 4th and a foot really punched my ticket. we have less than 5 yards rushing on the day (ON THE DAY) and we try a deep hand-off needing a foot. of course, they get penetration in a couple gaps and we don't even sniff converting.

unfortunately I agree with you and am feeling the same way. I hoped they would show some fire yesterday when they came out but it was the same thing as previous games. This team has no fire and doesn't know how to get up for games and this has been a problem the last 4 years. They will occasionally get up but overall seem uninterested in playing the game.

It was bizzare yesterday, chatting while watching the game. Even more than usual. Mizzou busts that little slant play for a walk in the park TD and nobody gets pissed. But about 5 people all at the same time post the little laughing icon. It's not like anybody is suprised anymore. How many times do we need to see it before we know we're just ****ed with this coaching staff?

First time I've ever been at a game and couldn't find it within myself to get excited. Even when we had come back in the 3rd and were in the red zone close to coming within 8-10 points... I was still just going through the motions.

Collin Cowherd says that if the team is not loyal to you, then why should you be loyal to the team? In this case Hawkins and Bohn are basically giving the University, the players, and the fans the middle finger, so why should I get upset and angry when they go out there and get their asses handed to them?

If you treat the FB program as entertainment, then I understand your point of view, as myopic as it might be.

But if you have anything more than a passing loyalty to the University, as a vehicle for this generation of athletes and future atheletes to develop their talents and showcase their skills, then such a manoever is shortsighted.

Simply put, CU will not be any more competitive in the B12 with a boycott.

I am not referring to a boycott, but I refuse to allow Hawkins to continue to ruin my Saturday disposition...lol

Cowherd makes a ton of sense when you're talking about professional teams. I have no more reason to be loyal to a local professional team than I do to be loyal to Celestial Seasonings. If CS started laying people off because they weren't "winning" their marketing battles, was threatening to move its facilities to another state, etc.... then I'd buy Bigelow or stop drinking tea.

But a college is different. It's part of the fabric of the community and, in this case, the state since it's the University of Colorado. Many of us went there, or plan to go there. Some of us have been employed there or had family members employed there. And some of us either played there or have friends that did. We're invested. CU athletics, especially football, is part of who we are. You can't just turn that off.

The only person who is responsible for allowing Hawkins to ruin your Saturday is you. You're giving the guy too much control over you, dood.

I did not say he was, I said I refuse to allow it, this isn't the 2002 Fiesta Bowl where I thought the playcalling was rather suspect, I am fully aware that we cannot block, we cannot tackle, we cannot throw, we cannot catch, and we cannot refrain from stupid penalties, therefore I am now keeping a hohum attitude to the whole thing. Wake me when it is over.

Colin Cowherd is a ****ing moron who understands zero about sports. He is proud to say he really isn't a fan of anybody. So this kind of thinking doesn't surprise me coming from him....

Agree.

I hope Cowherd realizes how lucky he is. The guy gets paid a ton of money to sit around talking random crap about sports with Michelle Beadle, who is right up there with Erin Andrews.

:yeahthat: Too bad he couldn't hear all of us saying QB sneak. Holy frig, Hansen could have fallen down and gotten the yardage.

There was a point in the game, maybe 3rd quarter, where the guy in front of me turned around to ask something or make a comment. I saw out of the corner of my eye Hansen threw a pass and I couldn't see where it landed.

The stands around me were dead quiet.
I said, "dang it, another incomplete."
and someone said, "no, he caught it."

and not one CU fan around me had applauded, or cheered or anything. It was like they were all zombies. Apathy set in so quickly. Comfortably numb.

Kudos to you for dealing with this while drinking tea. I can't find anything in the liqour cabinet that will help me out. I even find myself avoiding conversation with anyone about the Buffs. Venting like a broken record no longer gives me comfort.

Not sure when exactly, but numbness & apathy has set in for me. I couldn't get excited for the game on Saturday (and for that matter, the KSU game either -- but I think this has been setting in since the Toledo game). Tailgating was the highlight of my day. I didn't feel much energy or desire to cheer or get loud during the game. I ended up walking out to my car with 5 min left in the 2nd quarter. Didn't come back into the stadium until 1 min left in the 3rd quarter, and I only came back because the friends I was with wanted to go back in. I was having more fun bs'ing and drinking beer than I was in the stadium watching the game :sad1:

I want to be passionate again, but I just can't force it. Hell, I can't even get myself to be angry anymore after losses or horrible plays (I found myself laughing during the game on Sat).

I just want this nightmare to end.

Anyone know what the attendance was for the game? And anyone that stayed for the entire game, how was the attendance in the 3rd & 4th qtr?

I left before halftime when we were down 26-0. Decided that it was too nice outside to sit and watch another blowout. People were streaming out of the stadium at the half, and not many were getting re-entry passes.

This team reminds me of the old Fairbanks teams. You could show up before halftime and people would just give you tix to watch the second half.
