Hawik takes full responsibility for the season

No hawk, you shirked it all season long. What, krieger's column get you a shout from bohn to make it all better?

Thats nice to hear. Finally.

So he says he is sorry, we already knew that. He has the responsibility to correct the situation, if he is so responsible why doesn't get out of the way and let someone coach who can coach. BFD I am not impressed with him admitting the obvious.

I didnt imply that it in any way saves his job or takes pressure off of him, or even impresses me, its just nice to finally hear. The obvious.

That's good to see.

Not that I ever thought that Hawkins didn't feel personally accountable for the results of the program, but it's good to see it in print. I actually think he never really said it before because it's a "goes without saying" thing with him and he believes that the more important thing is to project confidence in his coaches and team. Therefore, all of the "we're close", "it's the little things", "it's gonna pop" type comments.

I like it much better than GB's act of blaming the players for not executing. At least it shows that Hawk has some spine.

Hawk has blamed execution after almost every loss... It's always on the players one way or another.

While it's nice to hear, it's still hollow. Once he admits it's his fault, the following question then becomes "So what are you going to do about it?" followed by the inevitable "we've got to work on a few little things, get our horns out, and work on getting this thing turned around". Which, of course, is just more bullsh!t from the master of bullsh!t.

I want to hear him say it at his presser tomorrow.

If he does, and it's sincere, and not sandwiched by excuse after excuse... I might support him getting 1 more year (with circumstances).

I'd love to see a coach offer some training specifics or adjustments to THEIR teaching methods.

My question is wheather or not he would have made a statement like that if Krieger's article didn't come out. My gut feeling is, NO.

Nothing we didn't already know, but it's nice he finally admits to it. At the end of the day in football it's on the head coach when players don't execute or don't play to their potential. Glad Hawk figured it out that he can't keep making absurd claims about how close we are.

I by no means have felt that when Hawkins states "we didn't execute" that he was ever NOT taking responsibility. It's obvious to everyone (or should be) that the guy in charge is responsible for his coaches not coaching and his players not executing. Hawk has never ever said he was clean on this. Never. He's sucked and he knows it.

Good. Took someone in the media calling him out in the Denver Post to get it done, but it got done.

resigning I hope :smile2:

WooHOO!! That would make my day. But unfortunately I think he just wants sympathy points. Too little too late asswipe. Year 4, eights friggin games into it you think you can say "its my fault guys" and all will be OK? All it does is acknowledge what we all already know. Now step down, step aside, get out the way, or whatever the phuk you gotta do, just dont be here tomorrow.

And he has never confirmed it until today. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I never read anything that made me think he was taking responsibility for a loss. When he threw blame on execution it certainly didn't sound like a cute way of saying, "I didn't prepare my coaches well enough to coach and my players weren't ready to play." I'm just glad he finally came out and said it, I'm just disappointed it took him 4 years to do so.

:yeahthat:

I might add, that while Woody Page is not a media mogal. He echoed some similer thoughts in his column on the same day Krieger's appeared.

As for Hawkins stepping up to take blame, it's to little to late as far as I'm concerned. He should have owned up to it after the loss to Cs uwe.

^This^

With the caveat that when Hawk loses the lockerroom, it's time to go.

The POS doesn't seem genuine to me. I don't really think he believes that it's all on him or at least it doesn't bother him enough to admit his approach is completely wrong and make some significant changes. That "it's just the nature of it." statement is a typical Hawkism without substance. Like saying oh well.. People are gonna blame me cause I'm the head coach but they don't really understand.
