Hagan's reaction...

I think Hagan's reaction is more of a personal hit to his pride than it is that he is actually upset that DS is leaving. Hagan wasnt using him anyway and had no real plans of using him....

Why cant our old players (EB and Hagan) get along with highly rated players our of HS? Are they threatened by them? Do they think they are such good coaches that they want to prove they can coach up a lower rated player? Do they take it upon themselves to bring these highly rated players back to reality by not playing them and breaking down their confidence?

No disrespect intended but looking for a trend in two instances may be tough.

and I have a hard time blaming all of this on Hagan. He may not have done a great job, I don't know but there is a lot of really bad thigns happening in this program right now that only have a little to do with the RB coach.

well its not too often that a mediocre program like CU is able to recruit the #1 RB in the nation and in both circumstances it has not worked out...with a particular emphasis on the relationship between the RB and the former CU player

Can this program really be THAT unlucky!

I kind of agree. The teams won two games. The natives are very restless. Given the situation its not that surprising that we are having some transfers. We obviously have to throw the ball to win in all of our games and thats gonna hurt a guy like Scotts chances of playing time. He proved the least effective of the two RBs we have given the few carries we were able to give to the running game.

Dan Hawkins failed to recruit and build and maintain an effective offensive line to establish the run. Thats on him. Or the administrations unwillingness to get these kids in. I'd leave too if I were DS.

How I long for the days when we, as Buff fans, were willing to tell players

"If you don't want to be at CU and do what the coaches ask of you, then feel free to leave."

We will find someone who wants to be a BUFF!

Its weird. But I think five star players are a bit quirky to begin with. Especially ones that commit to a non USC program that already has a strong record for handling those personalities and talents. I think if we were getting numerous 4* and 5* players per class one or two quitting wouldn't really look so bad.

He was pissed. He was obviously blind sided.

Michigan went through a couple ***** running backs that didnt pan out. Pete Carroll is good at handling these guys since he was in the NFL, and winning games never hurts.

I really don't think Scott didn't want to be a Buff. He had to make an individual choice for himself, staying here didn't look like it was his ticket to the NFL. It's not like he didn't like CU, he even apologized to "Buff Nation" for letting us down. He's getting a lot more hate than he should be. Did he live up to his potential? No. Does he deserve to be thrown in the gutter for doing what he thinks is best for himself? No.

C'mon Chilly...you've seen what Hawkins has done here. Blind faith is for losers...if Hawks approach resulted in a modicum of success then I would agree with you but he is lost...Darrell knows it and wants to save what is left of his college football career and hopefully continue his development into an NFL back. That was not going to happen here under Hawks watch.

Hopefully everyone understands I am not throwing him in the gutter. If he wants to leave, go for it!

I only want players who want to be here. If his way of dealing with lack of PT is to leave for "greener pastures" then I wish him the best. I want players who deal with lack of PT by refocusing and going the the extra mile to earn the PT by what ever means necessary.

No disrespect meant. It is a mutual farewell with no hard feelings.

Fair enough, it just seems like everyone has decided Scott is Marcus Houston remade and it's time to call him a fat idiot who we're better off without. Sorry, but the people who were calling Cody names and now the people calling Scott names are no different. They're both good people and are just trying to play some football.

Do you honestly believe that DS is afraid of competing for playing time? I would bet that he feels that the playing field is not even...and also feels that he is not developing as a running back because of a lack of opportunity and the coaching is sooo poor.

Not afraid, unwilling or unable are the words I would use. Why would the playing field not be even?

What is Stuart doing that Scott wasn't? Coaches don't just put you in the doghouse without a reason. What was DS's reason?

Basically, you sign a letter of intent, which is a legal contract, and you should uphold your end of it. I got crucified for this before, but the situation was different last year, or so I believed. I have somewhat less of a problem with Scott, because I don't think the coaching staff is upholding anything, except their manhood. I'm really just more interested in seeing what kind of shape he gets in, the blocking he gets, and his performances at his next stop. This is part of the apathy that has come with this year's events.

Not afraid, unwilling or unable are the words I would use. Why would the playing field not be even? You're kidding right? Do you think Hansen was on a level playing field with CHawk? Do you think Simmons, Simas were on a level playing field with Espy? If you do you're in as much trouble as Hawk.

Personality conflicts are huge between coaches and players and it has happened often that a coach doesnt like the player personally and allows that to affect the professional relationship. I'm not saying Scott is totally innocent but coaches need to coach each player individually...what works for Stewart may not work for Scott. Seems like Hagan was either unable or unwilling to find what works for Scott...that is on the coach!!

to much finger pointing and not enough personal responsibility in that post for me.

I guess only time will tell. I do wish in these circumstances that the players would at least tell their sides of the story. Creates a lot of speculation when no real reason is given.

Can, I'm sure Scott is telling a lot of prospective recruits about his decision process and all of the factors he pondered. And as this recruiting season goes forward, I'll bet he'll tell his side of the story to more of those, too.

LABuff's "...Hagan is a thug" reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld's "Of course, that's not a BAD thing..." joke.

After all, "thug" is perfect for recruiting SoCal.

I didn't have a problem with what Hagan said in that interview. He said something in a paper that didn't sound very good, but in that video he didn't say anything offensive to Darrell except he wished he had been a man about how he told him. Who knows why Darrell felt like he had to send a text instead of telling him face to face, maybe he didn't want to be talked out of his decision.

Re: Going the extra mile to get PT by whatever means..

Perhaps DS shoudda had JuiceBox adopt him as a son. That woudda resulted in a lot of PT, ala Cody...
