104.3 the fan about to have Bohn on

"how solid is this vote of confidence?"
paraphrase: A good AD always supports his coach.

wow, what a non-answer

I did love that he said "regardless if he is a great coach like McCartney or a Rick Neuheisal"

It might have been a non-answer. But I think he said more than it looks like on the surface...

hahaha....man...Bohn's pushing back on these tough questions....love the how many years to you give a coach question!

hahaha...."i like our students, and I think they'll do the right thing & show up in black & gold, and if they don't, they have every right to do so"

I guess i'm a rebel & not doing the right thing....:smile2:

Just caught the last few minutes. I'll say this about Bohn, he's got guts and he'll walk right into the lion cage. Things aren't going well now, and he's out there slugging away. You have to respect that.

You know he just wants to scream "EVERYONE LEAVE ME THE **** ALONE WHILE I TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HELL I AM GOING TO DO." :smile2:

I don't think there's any question the Mizzou game has changed the whole landscape. Bohn's message was clear prior, and now it is much more measured.

Probably less telling, but a friend of mine emailed me a response he got from an email to DiStephano this week and it was noncommittal as well, addressing how important successful athletics were but no mention of support for Hawkins.

He got the dreaded vote of confidence, and ever since then all signs point to put up or shut up time.

Bohn has been on the air quite a bit lately. It makes me wonder if he is not trying to get in front of the media and take some of the heat off of Hawkins.

He has no choice but to be as positive as possible. To his credit, he keeps them on tv and keeps lots of butts in the seats.

The silly stuff was comparing Scott leaving to the Rockies whiffing on Hampton, and again pointing out that it took Texas and Oklahoma 3 or 4 shots to get the right coach in position. Maybe that's where he should have used the Rockies comparison, because Texas and Oklahoma can afford to make mistakes more than the Buffs can - kind of like the Yankees can afford free agent mistakes while the Rockies can't.

more on this point, please... what, exactly, did he say on this point?

thanks.

He just remarked on it. It was notable to me because he was quoted to that effect in the Post (or the Daily Camera?) a month or so ago. He simply said what I said: that it took both Texas and Oklahoma 3 or 4 hires to get the right guy in place.

hmmmm...that could be interpreted to mean that he doesn't think the right guy is in place at this time and that he may need to try again at least once or twice...couldn't it?

Might be trying to take some heat, which is what a good boss does. I salute Bohn for doing it. I remember being furious with Tharp for just hanging Barnett and the football program out to dry. I don't remember him making one proactive appearance to support the program when it needed him most.

Sounds to me Bohn is going out front to 1) show he is a stand up guy in the face of what is becoming or is a disaster of a hire, 2) preparing everyone to accept that he is working on it, and 3) (I am sure the decision has already been made) congratulate him for firing Hawk and having the guts to do so. It takes his off the hook for a crappy hire.

I just hope it won't take him 3 or 4 tries. By the way did Txass and ok keep the same AD during that trial and error period? If not, Bohn could be sealing his own fate.
