Hagan on Scott: "I wasn't hard on him at all"..

This ought to raise some eyebrows.. Exactly what does Hagan do if he's not pushing the players hard as a position coach?

No one was more devastated by Scott's decision than running backs coach Darian Hagan, the man most responsible for getting him to CU. Hagan said he was blindsided. He was furious Scott didn't inform him in person. Late in the week, he was still hurt, and believes Scott made a decision he'll regret.

"He should have stuck it out," Hagan said. "(The lack of playing time) was no fault of his own. The guy just wasn't healthy. If he could have gotten healthy, he could have been a dynamic back here. One day, he'll realize his decision was not the right one."

Asked if he would have changed anything about the way he handled his prized prospect, Hagan said he would have been more stern. "I wasn't hard on him at all," Hagan said. "I gave him a lot of leeway. In retrospect, maybe (stronger discipline) is something Darrell should have had. But that's not the way I was coached (by Bill McCartney). It's not the way I like to coach."

Sykes had some interesting comments along with Brown..

all i got to say about hagone you had the best and now hes gone...for some reason all hawky said week after week about scott was he will get in there so ill say this hagone 2 touchs is not playing time for a beast....so in 2011 youll get to see how bad of a rb coach you really are...and as bad as you say scott hurt you by the text and not saying "im out" to your face i would have did the same thing.....:smile2:

Impressed with the way Darrell has handled the situation publicly. Not impressed with the way it sounds like he handled it privately.

Oh well, good luck to him.

Calling coaches stupid assed names makes you sound like a little kid. As far as "you had the best and now he's gone?" Give me a break already.

Like I've said, I'm kidding with the "dickwads" thing. I got called dickwad several times at the Mizzou tailgate. It is all in fun.
I know. Doesn't mean we can't rip you apart for it. SEriously man, keep it up, at this rate you may pass me and BCS as the most ripped upon posters

Yeah, I don't get that. WTF do people rip me? I'm a nice, average, mild mannered guy. Sure, I've got a little fire in me at times, but I'm not an angry guy, But I do enjoy arguing and being the minority. Kind of fun.

Lemme tell you, it gets old after a while, but ya, it sure is damn fun at times

Hagan has done a hell of a lot more for CU than DS, and he wouldn't have even been here if not for Hagan in the first place, so Hagan gets the benefit of the doubt as far as I'm concerned. I assume Hagan also had heavy involvement in recruiting Polk and Jones, and probably several others, so his value is there on the staff.

Also, I don't see how he can get the blame for not developing Scott, but no credit for turning a guy no one wanted in Stewart into a top back. You can't have it both ways.

No one questions your heart, but you say some sick, funny sh!t.

punctuation is your friend. right next to the period key is one called the "comma." it makes it easier to read certain run-on sentences that go for about 4 lines. but, don't, i repeat, don't, overuse, commas.

Yeah, as a matter of fact, they, the use of commas, that is, are my, at least one of my, if you believe that, pet peeves, that is, so to speak.

Actually, DS woudda been in Austin if it were not for Kennedy being bumped upstairs into an exec position because of his prostate cancer condition and with Apple-WHAT replacing him. Betcha DS rues the day that happened and his knee jerk reaction to committing to our flimfan HC as a result...
