has achieved the ultimate in parity, except for Tejas. This conference is crazy. The scholarship limits have changed college football so much. Does anyone know the history of scholarship limits? The 25/85 thing? When did that start?

Oklahoma is still up there with Texas IMO. The Sooners are having a down year, but they'll be back once they get an O-line gelling again and a more experienced QB.

Other than UT and OU, yes just about anybody else in the Big12 is capable of beating anybody else in the big 12 any given Saturday. Except for when CU plays on the road of course.

Well, to be fair, I'm just talking about this year.

Until we do our part and become a contender for the Big 12 (not necessarily MNC) then the disparity between the South and North will only continue to grow. OU is still an elite team, but their offense is bad. Jones is too young and is playing behind a young line. If you add up how many points they've lost by this year it isn't very much (1 against BYU and Miami, 3 to UT and 7 to NU for a total of 12 points; we've lost by more than that on many occasions this year).

What is the North vs South this year?

As long as we're throwing around the "youth explanation":

Oklahoma Starting O-line vs. CU Starting O-line:

OU LT - Senior / CU LT Junior
OU LG - Senior / CU LG Sophomore
OU C - RS-Freshman / CU C Junior or Sophomore
OU RG - Sophomore / CU RG Sophomore
OU RT - Junior / CU RT Freshman or Sophomore

At QB, Landry Jones is a RS-Freshman and Tyler Hansen is a true Sophomore so it's equivalent.

At RB, they've got a Senior to CU's Sophomore. At WR, they play a Sophomore and a Junior, just like CU. CU is more experienced at TE with a Senior vs. OU's Sophomore.

Despite a dominating defense, OU is excused for slipping from Big 12 Champions and a close loss in the BCS Championship Game to an unranked 5-4 team.

If that's the case, how is it that CU is in a situation where it's building up from a losing season (and on the heels of a recruiting scandal, new coach and culture change) and is less experienced on offense than OU... but CU being 3-6 is considered a major disappointment.

Food for thought.

:yeahthat: Agreed, OU is still up there. OU was expected to have a questionable OL coming into the year and it hasn't improved at all over the course of the season, and then there's their unexpected QB problems. OSU is probably the clear 2nd but their offense hasn't been as powerful as expected and then Hunter and Bryant went out for an extended time, and now Bryant for good. But I still think OSU knocks off OU in a few weeks.

Across the country college football at the top seems down this year. The best two SEC East teams have real trouble scoring, USC is down defensively, there are no real standout teams in the Big 10, etc.

Yea there's definitely no dominant teams this year. Texas is probably the closest to being dominant at this point, but they have their issues too with the lack of a running game.

Without Jordan Shipley, how good would UT really be?

Living in Big 12 South country all I've heard about is what an embarassment the North is. I think it's time the south starts realizing this year its Texas and 11 other mediocre teams. Period. (North was 2-2 vs South yesterday).

I think the myth is that Shipley is their receiving corps. He and Colt are as close as Cody and Scotty so naturally they think on the same level in passing situatons. Maybe Colt's big play passing yards would be down but he'd have fewer picks as he almost constantly sees Shipley as the number one option and it gets him into trouble. Next year should be interesting as their #2 Brandon Collins should be back after an academics issue benched him this year. No Colt and no Shipley so mostly star-ranking potential to go on.

I don't think Texas is all that great, either. They play no one OOC, and they are going to waltz through this crappy conference into a thorough ass kicking in the BCS championship.

At least that's my predicition.

Neither Bama nor Florida have enough offense to blow them out. I think Texas is pretty good, but they have a tendency to play up or down to competition at times. I think the NC game is going to be close.

What's with the Texas lovefest? You guys had them by the shorthorns down there and gave the game away.

Nothing about that team is frightening.

I'm going to reserve my predictions for how Texas will do in the MNC game once I see how Oklahoma St. finishes their season. If the Pokes end at 9-3 or better then maybe the UT Halloween win means a little more.

Maybe because theyre undefeated, #3 in the country, have Colt and Shipley, and the rest of the Big 12 is **** (except CU:smile2:) outside of them???

Their defense and special teams are outstanding. The offensive production may be sporadic, but the other two phases can and will score points to offset that deficiency.

Sooner fans are upset. Make no doubt about it, but there was a ton of speed and talent on the field yesterday. They don't miss tackles, nor have special team gaffes nor have what they are accustomed to. If OU had Bradford back and they had all of these same losses you can bet that OU would be in meltdown mode right now. They don't sit their best athletes because they didn't try as hard in practice. They have a coach who is a proven winner...but even Sooner fans are upset that he can't win the big game anymore. They lost their Heisman winning QB in the first game. They knew they were going to be down this year. Talks of a MNC went out the door as soon as Bradford left, but hope was renewed for a Big12 berth before he got knocked out at the RRSO.

We, however, can't run the ball even though that is our supposed strength. We constantly give up ST TDs. We constantly go 3 and out. We lose to teams that are bad in bad conferences. We come in with LOSING gameplans (CSU, Toledo, Mizzou) that don't even give us a shot of winning. We don't bench our starter after he struggles, even though we all know he probably isn't going to be the starter next year. We give up the running game when we are down 14...well we did. Sigh, so many problems that are not being addressed. Had we lost all of our games by a combined 15 points I'm sure sentiment would be that we are *ALMOST* there. Our recruiting isn't going well. Our blue-chip RB packs it up and leaves. Our star WR left last year. We move a frosh AA center to FB causing him to transfer. Now repeat this for 4 years and no winning season, but lots of potential, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Texas is very good this year but after McCoy graduates they will take a dip in 2010. Too bad CU can't catch them then. Just our luck to play them at their high points.

Our luck also had CSU, Toledo and Wyoming to start and the top 3 preseason North teams at home. Huge favors on the schedule and many were whiffed on. Early in the games. Incredibly frustrating that we can find solace in most of the conference also having a disappointing fall yet can't capitalize on so many others' weak seasons by beating those teams.
