If we can't hire the Shannahan Duo (and trust me my fingers are crossed that we can!), what about Mike Leach? He's pissed off at Texas Tech right now and is apprently flirting heavily with Lousiville. I think he'd be a good fit in Boulder and I, for one, am always looking for an excuse to wear pirate clothes to football games.

He's a pretty good coach, I'll give him that. I just don't think he's a fit in Boulder at all. Didn't he get a brand new giant contract last year too? I think we can rule out any coaches that we'd have to buy out from their current contract.

Contract has no buyout.

Technically, the buyout is the coach's responsibility (and not the team that is hiring the coach). Now this doesn't mean that the coach can't be financially incentivized to leave (ie, new school helping pay the buyout). But it doesn't always happen that way. When RichRod agreed to leave WVU, I remember reading that Michigan agreed only to help him fight the buyout (and pay some of his legal bills), but that Rich Rod was on the hook for the amount of the buyout. Rich Rod ended up having to cut a check to WVU himself.

:stupid:

"Fat little girlfriend" quotes would not do well in The People's Repulic.

How 'bout "Dirty, stinky, little granola girlfriends?" :hippie:
Oops, here comes the PC police - "Pullover!"

The dude is eccentric but a football genius. He's a thinking man's football coach. He's off-kilter, just like Boulder, and will at least capture the attention of the Boulder/Denver sports community. He wins with an offense that allows a team to win with less talent. I think its a good fit.

He's off kilter, but not just like Boulder. Hawkins is off kilter like Boulder. Zen, philosophizing, not letting winning become the most important thing. Leach is off kilter in more of an anti-PC, wannabe pirate kind of way. That's much more Lubbock than Boulder...

I don't want 4 hour long games every game. We'll never get back on tv.

I enjoy this thread. Clearly Sportsfan was going for the laughs today, well done.

We want him to stay put, he is probably the only coach in the conference with a losing record to CU.

Wrong direction, imo. Run the ball.

I'm with you, this is funny. Anybody who knows anything about Leach at all know what a mercenary the guy is. Sword goes strictly to the highest bidder. No principles, no loyalty. Ruffin McNeal (dc) is one of the biggest reasons the Red Raiders have done as well as they have the last couple of seasons.

Take it from a guy who lives within 100 miles of Buttocks, TX. we don't want this guy.

The mercenary part is what I find funny. If someone approached me to do the same job I do now but at 2x the money I'd sure as hell leave or try to negotiate more. That's not the thing about Leach that I dislike....
