Woody Paige Chimes in on CU & Shanahan

Woody also called for benching Orton in favor of Chrissie Simms before last week's game. SUPER credible source.

Woody knows people that talk about stuff. The comments about DiStefano is the most troubling. Scoop has been too quick with its rumors imho to really be credibile.

On a lot of levels Shanny makes sense because of the convenience for Shanny to take the job. But the reality checks and the math make it harder to believe.

Well see. No pun intended.

Woody is a self-serving, name dropping boob - I'm very skeptical of anything the guy writes.

Actually I am glad that Paige says Shanahan won't coach here and that Hawkins will be back next year.

I don't pay much attention to him anymore, but he always comes out early on an issue and with incorrect information more often than not from what I remember. I think GM's, Coaches, etc love spinning him off on the wrong trail since so many people listen to him (why is beyond me).

The coaching rumor mongering is picking up day by day and I think allbuffs has had a huge role in it.

:rofl::canabis:

Everything that we are saying here is what most Buff fans think anyway...

I don't need Allbuffs to think that: because Shanahan can't coach the Broncos, he loves Denver, and there is POSSIBLY a potentially high profile job available that might give him the opportunity to coach with his son.....

i think most can figure that out on their own.....

and people I speak with who have NO IDEA what AllBUffs is... are throwing out the same names we are on this board.....

Granted, woody has a strange way of making a point in most of his articles. Not that he's a fountain of collage football info. But if you were to compare his journalism skills to a guy like Tim Griffin, I'll take Woody any day. Neil W. & Kyle R haven't exactly been keeping their fingers on the pulse of CU football the way they should be either. It's almost like the two of them have been running interference for Bohn.

Bohn is probably doing that.... Andy Reid does that in Philadelphia... if you write what he wants you to write, you get the scoop first....

I would do that if I was the AD.

Journalism has become a "get the scoop first" mentality... and the only way to combat that is to control the information that is disseminated....

i know it sounds a little anti- free speech... but I really do see both sides of the issue...

So Woody thinks that Hawkins will be back next year. Why are some of the local media saps afraid to take a stand here and say that Hawkins not only should be gone but that he will be gone?

Journalism has become a "get the scoop first" mentality...

HAS become? Please. It's always been that way. And don't forget that folks like Paige, Woelk, ****zla, are columnists, not reporters. They're paid to write opinions and lame humor attempts, not actually report any facts.

brevity doesnt get the point across sometimes....

reporting has become much more zealous at getting the story to break rather than gather facts.... that much has changed over the last 30 years... and with more mediums of media available... journalism has morphed into reporting opinions and not facts... you are correct sir!:smile2:

Woody didn't help the Shanny-->CU cause here. I would have much rather he taken the view of, "Here's all the reasons why this would be a good idea" rather than to say "It's not realistic" and provide no statement as to why it can't happen. It totally can happen, it just depends on where Mike's head is at these days.

Right on! All the doubters screaming "never happen" could be what costs CU this opportunity.

So if Shanny moves, is he going to build a new mansion in Dallas, SanDiego, or Chicago or will he get some temporary living kinda place and commute back here for rest?

Either way he loses out. He will lose a ton of $$ if he sells his new place here in Denver and won't be able to move into the next new place for at least a few years. If he does the commuting thing, that will get old really quickly. Even with a private jet from Dallas to Centennial we are still talking several hours of commuting each trip and even for someone with deep pockets that gets really expensive very quickly.
