I was just thinking of starting a thread like this.

John Embree- Position coach to HC? Good Buff, but question on experience, not likely
Eric Bieniemy-See, Embree, Jon
Dave Logan- See, Embree, Jon, Bieniemy, Eric, plus he makes good $$$ pitching 1stBank and doinghis Bronco gig, plus he dabble in FB at Mullen
Brian Cabral- Love the guy, best LB coach in the business IMO. I just wonder why no other HC gig has come his way. Got passed over last time, doubt it will be different now.
Charlie Strong- Won't leave the South IMO.
Karl Dorrell- Interesting choice. Has HC experieince, although not stellar on the W/L, sometimes guys get better after the first go round, definite possibility IMO.
Dave Logan- same thougths as above.
Chuck Heater- No idea
Mike Shannahan- Never happen. Great choice if you could get him, but I really doubt it.
Kyle Shannahan- 29 y.o. HC? I think I'll pass.
Brent Venables- This guy has been passed over twice by his own school (KSU) once for Ron Prince for cryin' out loud. Something is wrong IMO, although I don't know what it is.
Mike Stoops- I get these guys mixed up, but isn't he riding his borther colective coattails? Mark has had mixed results at AZ, so I'm skeptical
Brian Kelly- He won't come here, he's waiting for an elite gig IMO.
Bobby Hauck- Has some baggage for off the field stuff at Mont. I Imagine that is a non-starter for Bohn.
Turner Gill- Nice possibility. Has done well at Buffalo, has TX recruiting ties.
Tommy Tuberville- Great coach, bad fit in Boulder, he's too Southern IMO.

Who am I missing?

Al Golden HC Temple

Andy Ludwig OC at Cal

Sonny Dykes OC at AZ

Bob Simmons. I can't think of the Jones guys' first name. The CMU coach

Bob Simmons made formal application for the UNLV job, FWIW. That doens't sound like a guy who's been given any sign he'll be in the running at CU.

Butch Jones at CMU. Sounds liek Hawkins part two, does he have any BCS experience?

Troy Calhoun, same concern as Butch Jones, although I like what he has done at AFA.

Dave Logan - so good he goes on the list twice.

Major Applewhite
Gary Patterson

Lefty - What off field baggage has Bobby Hauck had at Montana?
Mike Stoops is at Arizona, won't leave so I am assuming you are referring to Mark Stoops.

Why is Al Golden never really listed as a candidate if we are looking at mid-major guys. I know he is an east coast guy, but come on, he got Temple of all teams to what, 9-2?

The guy that coached my Pop Warner team in 5th and 6th grade. We were undefeated both years. I saw him last week and he isnt coaching anywhere.

The ones that seem to be on the A-List based on who the rumors are coming from:

Sonny Dykes
Jon Embree
David Gibbs
Butch Jones
Brent Venables

I would think that someone like Mike Shanahan or Les Miles would trump them all if interested and available.

Mike Riley-

IMO, no BCS coach will leave his current gig to come to Boulder if his team has seen the top 25 in the past three years. I doubt any of the high flying mid-majors (Utah, TCU, Boise, did I just say that?, or BYU) are worried about their coach leaving for CU.

That leaves a BCS coordinator or mid-major HC. I'd lean towards the Coordinator route.

One other name Ed Warriner, KU OC who's likely to be looking for work soon.

One other, McCarney former ISU HC, current USF DC.
Still one more, J.D. Brookhart form Akron.
Just thought of another, Larry Fedora at So. Miss.

Cabral?

Todd Graham - HC Tulsa

Mike Bobo - OC/QB Georgia if there is any shakeup there.

Personally, (aside from the Shanny-claus) I am leaning towards Strong or Sumlin as my favorites.
