For those of us that are sick of all the "inside info" that turned out to be wrong (especially the footballcoachesscoop.com or whatever it's called) and 100% crap, here is the truth as reported by a true insider to me. I knew enough thru this process to doubt what I was hearing on these boards, but chose to remain silent. I started to attack some of this "lore" yesterday morning, well before anything was reported elsewhere because by then I knew it was 100% BS:

http://www.allbuffs.com/forums/showthread.php?p=573621#post573621

By late morning I got a call telling me what was ultimately reported on KOA later in the day but was told to keep it quiet. I shared this information with at least one other Allbuffer here who had taken lots of recent abuse for being "right". Thanks for not posting it as a "scoop" as requested.

For those who want to know what some of the facts are, this is what I have been told:

1. the money was not the issue, but it would have been certainly a stickier situation. The state and University are not swimming in extra cash. Paying a big bailout could have happened, but there would be lots of roars from the "other side". You better be sure where and why on this thing to pull the trigger on what would be double the $3+ Million reported, when you add in assistants, escalated salaries for new hires, etc.

2. Bohn did not talk to EB, Shanahan, etc etc etc. Nice stories, but laughable. Bohn didn't come back to Hawkins after "not being able to get his guy". Bohn focused on evaluating what we have and fixing that vs. starting a new search. Period. End of story. Those family friends of the Shanahan's evidently weren't (shocking!).

3. Bohn was not over-ruled. This was his recommendation. Reports to the contrary are laughable. His decision was not reversed, allegedly because Hawk went over his head and met with DiStefano. Let's file that under "IntraWeb Fantasies" as well.

4. Many top donors are in Maui this week with Bohn. Enough said. There was no "secret meeting" whereby Hawk went around Bohn's back and met with DiStefano. All that stuff is a bunch of crap.

5. "Mass Transfer" is a fantasy invented by the Hawk haters. Hawkins has had major support from the players since day 1. DS leaving was also not an issue that ever entered into this equation. He's one of 100+ guys.

6. cancellation of visits? No info here. I can only speculate that there will be staff changes of some kind and thus they plan save the visits for then. Pure speculation on my part so please note accordingly.

Can we leave the crap to NetBuffs and keep this as a fan site? A lot of posters went quiet here recently not because they were wrong about Hawk but by the overwhelming tide of hate with lack of analysis and facts. I can make an argument to keep Hawk or fire him. The record speaks for itself. All the other crap that was "invented" to tarnish Hawk's character and reputation is abuse, especially if it's reported as fact by the media and certain radio hosts. It's infuriating to hear people pass off as fact what is ultimately proven to be BS. Hawk "losing the team" has been my pet peave. If we say it enough times it's true. Keep it real!

I love your continued insinuation that "Hawk haters" are some kind of minority, and that Hawk supporters, such as yourself, are an underrepresented silent majority.

Hawkins is a terrible coach. Keep supporting him and please, keep posting the same bull**** in every single thread on this board. It doesn't make him a better coach.

The only fantasy is people like you who think hawk is above being fired. The only fantasy is you believing hawk will magically start winning next year.

The only thing "made up" around cu is the excuses as to why hawk was kept. He would have been fired anywhere else. Distefano was quoted, nobody "made up" what he said.

Hawk made his bed, he came here with all the "fantasy' NC's BS and big tak. He has not come anywhere close to any goals.

You are so worried about people tarnishing hawk's character. He's a nice guy, I know lots of nice people who do their jobs correctly. His on the field performance is atrocious but here at CU winning football doesn't matter anymore. Distefano said as much.

I love your netbuffs references, you probably posted there. People are people, doesn't matter what site it is.

You might want to close your eyes and ears over the next year, the fans aren't happy and it will be FACT when you see what transpires.

Hawkins still sucks and '10 will be his last season. How can you call a 16-32 coach with 2 road wins in 4 years a good coach? I also find it kind of ignorant that you think all others do not know and don't know other boosters or insiders, some of your info is correct, some is still not.

So the info you got as a Hawkins supporter, allegedly from someone in the know who we can safely assume is also a Hawkins supporter... jived with the information that Hawkins leaked to the media yesterday. Thanks.

And one last thing about the "mass" transfers. That has been a huge problem of Hawks, how do you figure it's just gonna stop at the drop of a hat with 3 or 4 wins?

Guys, this is how buffaholic operates. He is the only one that ever has the "correct" inside info. It never ceases to amaze me that everyone else can be so wrong as far as recruiting, players on the team, coaching staff rumors, etc. I am not a well-connected guy by any stretch, but I know enough from inside people that buffaholic has put his spin on some of this info.

What a joke... Nothing like sanctimonious, wanna-be insiders telling us all who the "real fans" are. This is almost as pathetic as the BCS hiring a PR firm to run their twitter acccount. For the first time in my life I am going to root for NU becuase I firmly believe that Bohn and Co made the wrong decision and they deserve the embarassment. The players are just collateral damage. This is truly the nadir.

Lastly, while mass transfers may be overstating it...there are some who are leaving. I have spoken with parents on occasions this season that have said as much. Also, D Scott was set to come back...I dont know if that happens now.

Exactly. I have spoken to some parents as well, there will be players leaving. Some big names too.

Here's what I know to be a fact: with the retention of Hawkins, the Admin is sending a loud and ****ing clear message that they don't give a flying **** about even TRYING to be competitive. Why bother even having a football team if you won't try to win?

It's a two-way ****ing street, CU Admin. Since they don't give a **** about how this team performs, neither will I. I'm glad I have to work tomorrow, since this is the first time ever that I have no desire to watch the CU-****ers game.

I am not going to out players that choose to keep their **** private. You can peruse several boards and find the same names over and over again.

That too. I would just like to remind everyone on the board that buffaholic used his "inside info" to call out posters for several weeks that the rumors around Diante Jackson/his family were complete BS. Wonder how that all turned out.

Yep. DiStefano's quote at the end of the Denver Post article this morning said just that. He basically said winning is of secondary importance at CU. Nice.

What on earth would cause the big time donors to want him to come back? Changing out a couple of assistants for some unproven one is not magically going to make us a decent road team, which is what we will need to be to have a non-awful season next year.

I don't think most reasonable people really thought #2 was a possibility. A couple people mentioned it as a possibility, but most knew it was fantasy. It's not like everyone on here was ready to fire Hawk only because we could bring in Shanny. Hawk needs to go because the team he is in charge of sucks. As for #3, I'm afraid PissBomber has proven to be pretty damn accurate in his inside info, sorry I'm going with him on this. #5 who actually really knows how many will transfer? I'm sure some make their intentions known, but I bet nobody knew DS was going to transfer until he actually did, stop reporting this as fact when it is not. "Mass transfer" probably isn't an accurate term for it, but I am willing to bet there are some unhappy players on the team that are tired of Hawk. <--- not fact what I just said btw, pure speculation, call it stupid netbuffs garbage if you want.

My question is, what do you tell recruits? Well, we play football at cu but it's just for fun. Winning isn't a priority and you'll all get a trophy at the end of the year?

What on earth would cause the big time donors to want him to come back?

My guess: The size of the checks they were being asked to write at a time when the value of their stock and real estate holdings has been halved.

Why doesn't the poster high-tail it over to netbuffs? This kind of top-down fan police bull**** goes on pretty much unchecked over there. Not even the threat of neg-rep to slow it down.

Oh, and keeping Hawkins is the all time ****tiest move I've ever heard of in college athletics. Made at the ****tiest possible time for all the ****tiest (and most transparent) possible reasons.

F*ck Juicebox, f*ck Bohn, and f*ck everyone in the administration that made the decision to keep our asshat head coach.

Every year since Juicebox has arrived we have had players transfer at the end of the season. It is never the 3rd string walk-on that shares a number with two other players. The people transfering are high end talent. I fully expect to lose several highly rated players this offseason.

What lame effing excuse is Juicebox going to have for getting beat Friday by the corn and finishing the season with 3 effing wins?

The best teams Juicebox has had were filled with GB recruits. I'm not a big GB fan, and didn't mind seeing him gone, but would love him back right now. If only for the reason that he had his kids play with intensity. None of this Hawk love bullsh*t that being passed around like some strange STD.

Hawk comming back means CU does not care about the football program. There is no chance Juicebox will turn this around. So we are looking at a lame duck coach for 2010. Our current recruiting class is looking like it will rank around last in the Big 12, and somewhere around 75 in the nation. With a lame duck coach the 2011 class should be just as bad.

CU should try and join the Mountain West or Big Sky conference. There is no chance of ever competing in the Big 12 with the assho*es currently running things.

What a joke this team has become.

CU is probably going to announce a new policy announcing that "everyone plays one quarter". After all, winning isnt important and we dont want anyone's feelings hurt.

My guess: The size of the checks they were being asked to write at a time when the value of their stock and real estate holdings has been halved.

Yeah I guess, I still figure that if they're throwing a large sum of money to a football program they might have higher expectations than any of us. If I threw down a 6 figure donation and saw the Buffs play football the last 4 years, I'd refuse to spend my money on that anymore without a change.

It's pretty obvious that Hawk isnt the only problem here. I think this is a collective effort to be this ****ty and, even worse, not even care cause he is doing it the right way. The only way a change is made in the future is if about 25 to 30K start showing up to games. At that point they might just pull the plug on the program, I wouldnt put it past them at all. With all the head scratching the CU admins have me doing with their descision making, Im gonna be bald soon. Gonna be a long drive back from Texas.

I said judge him on the record. I have been undecided on whether to fire him now or wait another year. I was a strong supporter until this year. No excuses is what I've said.

I won't back down on calling out the total BS that is posted on this board by some. You don't have to support Hawkins to be a fan. But there's a fine line between crucifying the coach with outright lies and being a supporter of the program? I don't think so.

We all get our opinions on here. We don't need to make up stuff (as was definitely the case) in order to further our views. Those who made up things and posted as facts know who they are....

What a joke this team has become.

What "high end" talent has tranferred besides DS and Uncle Josh?

Here are the facts of guys who've transferred after arriving in Boulder:
class of '06: Palazzi
class of '07: Smith, Maiava, Shields, Ballenger
class of '08: Scott, Wallace, Blackmon

I think Smith and Scott are a package deal. Shields wasn't getting playing time and was beaten out by true-freshmen (West, Kasa)

Hardly a mass transfer issue here. All teams expect a handful per year based on homesickness, girlfriend problems, and playing time. Mass defections is not an issue here imo.

If you judge him on his record, I dont think you have much to stand on. People arent pissed because of the way Hawk is. People are pissed because we get blown out by the likes of Toledo and then he trys to sell us that they are close. W's cure all, thats the bottomline.
