Starting QB 2010?

Will Cody get another shot to win the job again? I hope they don't announce the new starter ubtil just before the first game.

Hansen should be the guy and, if he isnt, Hawk should get fired for that. Hansen better be injured or replaced by Superman or somebody else before that happens.

Hansen's our quarterback now.

And Cody has shown that he's a darn good QB to bring in as a relief pitcher when needed.

I'm feeling pretty good about our QB situation next year for the first time in a long time.

Hansen's the logical choice, but I really hope that the redshirt QBs show well this spring. It will be good to have some depth and talent in place.

Hansen will be the starter, if one thing Hawkins has seen were he has ****ed up at, it is with CH starting at QB 1....

What if something happens to Hansen... ACL, transfer, etc... Could Daddy put Cody out there or would he have to give it to Clark Evans?

we should run UT's O with hansen. lotta high % throws, zone read, QB draws. too bad we don't have their OL, though.

Wow... I bet that would get ugly real quick. I like Tyler for 2010, but am very hopeful about Evans and some of the new commits.

hansen should be the starter going into spring ball, Hansen should be the starter going into fall camp, hansen should be the starter going in to csu. Lets have a whole off season planned around 1 QB for a change.

I would ask Benson who he wants as the starter before making this prediction....

With this staff, I honestly believe that Cody will win the starting job again through an "excellent" Spring and Fall. And players like Simas will also lose their jobs until the season's already over.

I don't think so, not with what Hawk has said the last week. I bet Cody plays a lot, but Hansen will be the man.

He's got a long time to re-convince himself that the lunchpail kids are what's needed for this program. Not the actual, talented ones.

If that really happens, we have major issues with this program. Cody should only be playing as an option if Hansen is lost to injury. But I think you are right unfortunately, I think Cody will end up playing a lot simply because the coaches will think he is a better option.

i guess it won't be spond, based upon the latest recruiting news.

in all seriousness, i thought th looked much improved as the year went on. he'll start, i would think.

I have no doubt that Hansen will go into spring as the starter. Isn't Hirschman coming in the spring? That'll be interesting, but I don't see a true freshman in the mix. I've heard, through the grapevine, by the way, that Seth Lobato looks pretty damned good. But I'd be shocked if Hansen is the starter next year. He needs to improve though.

Starting a raw true freshman at QB against that schedule would be a sign the staff is just mailing it in.
I agree, Matt Barkley at USC is more polished than most freshman and he hit the wall. I doubt Munchie is as far along as he is, looking at clips, id say he's not. Talented but raw and needs time.

Unless he is hurt, Tyler will be the starter. I want to see him with another spring and fall under his belt with the coaching staff behind him 100%. No more of this "competition" we had last year.

I don't see that happening. Cody will get 50% of the snaps and a chance to be the starter in spring and fall camp.

We absolutely need competition at this position to keep Tyler on his toes.
He will earn the position, but should be challenged.

Redshirt freshmen QBs:
Clark Evans, Seth Lobato, Jerry Slota, Blake Stanley

Incoming freshmen QBs:
Nick Hirschman, Munchie Legaux, Danny Spond (until he says otherwise)

Returning redshirt senior: Cody Hawkins.

We HAVE to give these guys a shot a QB -- otherwise we end up with another Ballenger situation and no backups. We need depth.

Let the best arm win.

I agree that we need to have Tyler stay on his toes. I was referring to the qb battle with Cody last season. Love the fact the we actually have some younger kids in the battle but don't want Cody as the starter next year.
