After just 3 seasons, and he had an identical record the past three seasons as Hawkins (albeit one more win this season). Louisville has the balls to pull the trigger, but apparently we don't......interestingly look at the bottom of the article.

With Louisville expanding Papa John's Cardinal Stadium from 42,000 to more than 60,000 seats and disgruntled fans staying away in droves this season, going forward with Kragthorpe was a no-win proposition. A crowd of only 23,422 attended the finale Friday against Rutgers, many of them using tickets that had been given away by unhappy season-ticket holders.

This is likely what it will take for an athletic department to wake up.

Yup. And Louisville is hardly a big-time football school.

The more I think about it, the more of a disaster this season was. Started with committing to Invesco for TEN YEARS, followed that up by getting worked by CSU at home, followed closely by getting our ass kicked by Toledo. Scott transfers, Hawk is rumored to be gone - having Buffs everywhere stupidly dreaming of Shanahan* - Hawk stays and we cap it with a loss to Nebraska, no extra bowl practices (this team could really use them) and now Spond decommits. What a ****show.

*This includes me. What an idot.

pretty much. 2 years ago at this time i used to eat lunch at my buddy's restaurant a couple times a week and there were 4-5 players who came in all the time. they were STOKED to be playing in a bowl game. the excitement was awesome. now, nothing.

i'd take Kragthorpe as OC.

No doubt. If Kiesau gets the Portland State job I would hope that Kragthorpe was high on the interview list (probably go back to the NFL, though). I'd also be very happy with Chuck Long.

I thought the same as you but it looks like Long still has 1 more year of his $700,000 "office job" at San Diego State. No way we could pay him even half of that to take over as OC.

I doubt Long has the luxury to pull a Shanahan and sit out for a couple of years. If we come calling and offer a decent salary to be our OC, I think he'd take it. Unless of course some other school that can offer him a multi year deal calls.

actually CU has an open multi year contract still available.....no indication that they would actually use it

I say we open up the piggy bank for Cabral, he's a keeper. Everyone else deserves a 1 year contract.

Would be a good gesture but Cabral's long-term dedication to the university stands on its own and other schools can't recruit against that for the guys he is targeting.

It would be best for the university if they could show some stability on offense to recruits, but it doesn't matter if the HC might only last 1 year, unless the OC is named the HC-in-waiting.

I thought I read somewhere that DiStefano is not on a long-term contract, so figured that he would probably use up that last one if anyone did.
