So, is now the time to "water" down the schedule?

If the full commitment is not their to win and it's not the priority, wouldn't now be the time for them to play a much softer ooc? The chances of them winning 6 would increase and there's your improvement. :sad1:

I don't know about watering down the schedule, but we need to do whatever we have to do to keep our games on saturday next season. Playing on thursday, friday, monday, didn't help our cause.

Playing badly enough to make TV lose interest in us should take care of that, and I'm afraid this year gave us a big head start in that department....

From the looks of things the admin doesn't care about winning. Instead the want to keep the cash flowing in without making any investment in the quality of the product.

As a result they will continue to try to milk the Colorado name by scheduling us as a "name" opponent to anyone willing to pay a big guarantee to come in or on a 2 for 1. They will also entertain any offers to move games to odd days and/or times for a bigger check.

Our only hope is that Benson is the kind of guy who won't stick with this job very long. At the same time the average time in office for a Chancellor is not that long either. Both Benson and DiStefano are up in years so they may be looking to move on sooner than later.

One of the reasons I was in favor of making a change now was the fact that a new coach could work his way through a difficult schedule next year and get his system implemented. That work would pay off in his second year, 2011, when we have a schedule that is very favorable. Not to be I guess.

Given how far advance a lot of the schedules are made (5-10 years) and the fact that CU would have to pay a penalty (NC paid us $200k) in these tough financial times I don't see us making changes to the schedule. The rational for the big game was that put butts in the seats in Folsom. Maybe they water it down in the future schedules but by the time they get here I bet Hawk and possibly Bohn are long gone.

God I hope we dont get into playing teams just for the money.

I'd like to see basically: 1 game vs CSU. 1 game vs some huge team, a Georgia or something. 1 game vs a decent team from a decent conference. 1 game that's a relative gimme, like Toledo!

Part of the problem this year and the last few has not been just the opponents but the schedule changes made prior to playing. The moving of games to Thursday nights is a good example. This year playing CSU on a Sunday and a road game at Toledo the following Friday is a better example.

This was done for immediate cash. We should never have accepted the Todedo game to start with. We were scheduled to play Miami (OH) on that weekend, we should have held them to the contract or collected the penalty rather than taking the Toledo game in "trade."

This will continue until we get an administration that wants to win.

i bet we cupcake it OOC as long as this group is in charge. they seem to be cosmetic oriented. and the whole "good student" thing, is just a pretend thing to make it seem like the admins have principles. i've been saying it for a long time, and it's been taken up by others....2.6 ain't squat.

The worst part is how we actually seem to be playing pretty tame OOC schedules the last few years, we just aren't beating the crap teams we're scheduled against.

Water down the schedule, how? Are you anticipating that CU is going to buy itself out of a game somewhere? I doubt it.

CU already has CSU in Denver, at Cal, Hawaii, and Georgia on next year's non-conference schedule. I think CU could go 1-3 in those 4 games.

2011 has Hawaii on the road, Cal, CSU in Denver, and Fresno State. If Hawkins is back, I could see another 1-3 start.

2012 has CSU in Denver, Minnesota in Minneapolis, Fresno State at Fresno, and Utah in Boulder. With Hawkins, I predict 0-4.

Do I need to continue?

I'd like to see us drop Hawaii next year and schedule Boise State for the epic showdown. Then again that's our one sure win next year.

great point, i almost posted this yesterday....if I'm Bohn i might seriously consider contacting UGA and CAL about a re-schedule or cancel. it's a wuss move, but i'm trying to keep my job and give coach wonderful the best chance to play in the Texas Bowl.

Like I said 3 or 4 posts up. We can't beat the Toledos or Montana State's of the world. Let alone a superior to those two CSU team near the bottom of the MWC. We've got problems. Big problems.

I think the ticket is WAC teams. Hawk is a beast against them. We need to call up anyone not named Boise State and Nevada(they scare me) and get it done.

No problems as long as the CU players maintain a very slightly better than C average GPA.

Cause UTAH and BYU look so beatable... :rofl2:

If your looking for the "easy" button I'd suggest UNC (not that UNC), ND or NDS. Even then its dicey...

What the hell are you talking about? We were only 10 plays away from going to a bowl game this year, didn't you hear? It's just a few little things. That's all. Just a couple little things and we're right there. Hey, this deal was burned to the ground four years ago. Didn't you hear?

WAC, not Mountain West. No BCS affiliated team is capable of beating a Mountain West team. Can't be done.

They're in the MWC. I don't dare schedule any of those teams. New Mexico beat CSU, who we can't beat. There might be a few we could beat at home, but I'd rather not try to go on the road against them.

I dunno man. I stopped smoking that $hit a long time ago. But Dan is making it sound like its still really good stuff.
