CU should take a page from Florida State's book

Florida State told Bobby Bowden that he could return as head coach next year, but he'd have reduced authority.

I would like to see Bohn ****can a few of Hawkins' Boise boys, bring in some new blood, and tell Hawkins that he has a reduced role.

I think this is hilarious that FSU forces Bowden out and then thinks that this will bring about the change in the program that they are looking for. Jimbo becomes head coach (officially) even though he's been the one running the program since 05. THEY HAVE SUCKED UNDER HIM. Why would they think it's going to be any different next season?

Yep, they are losing two of their greatest assets (Bowden and Andrews) and somehow think that they will be better off. It would be better for them if they had a clean break to start a new "chapter" but really it's just a carve-out from what they already had.

Jimbo better get a damn fine DC right away or they will be in deep **** real quick.

Maybe we could get them to hire away Ron Collins....

Even if all things are equal you know as well as anyone that replacing a legend is no simple task. It took you guys 3 tries (If Bo is the answer). And we're in all likeliness going to be on our 4th pretty soon.

I have tremendous respect for Bobby Bowden and what hes done there and what he's been able to sustain for so long. That said I hope FSU has a few 2 or 3 win seasons so their fans can enjoy a dose of reality for a change.

The problem is that Jimbo Fisher has not been running the program - it says in his contract that he will become the HC by 2011, and Bowden has been mostly a figurehead for years, but it's not stated explicitly what his powers are in his current role. I think it's an understatement to say that you have issues when he doesn't don't know which of the HC's traditional duties he is responsible for (for example he did not have the power to hire and fire other staff members, and he supposedly did not get along well with some, notably Andrews). That was one of the alternatives that TK Wetherell and the AD were looking at, if they could let Bowden stay one one more year for his farewell tour but transfer more duties to Fisher rather than just leaving him in limbo again. FSU might be looking at a similar record next season, but it sure wouldn't be any better if they kept Bowden around.
