What are your feelings about CU Football now that Hawk is back.

What are your feelings about CU now that Hawk is back?

My feelings are that not only is Hawkins a terrible coach and a mediocre-at-best recruiter, but that he is a bit of an asshole and I am not sure why the "great guy" rhetoric continues to be paraded around the CU community as if it were actually true.

My feelings are that CU football is going to remain in the basement until he is replaced.

My feelings are that, whenever this nightmare finally ends, he isn't going to be the only prominent figure at CU to lose his job.

The way I see it is that there is nothing to change now. I voted that I am behind him and behind the buffs all the ways. When there really is an option I will gladly let go of Hawk, but as it is he is a part of this program for better or worse. So go buffs! (Hawk included)

No acceptable answer for me:

Very conflicted, will back the team and hope they win,
I'm NOT against Hawk though -- he's the buffs' coach and I will support him another year.

What I'm worried about with Hawk....say this thing "POPS" next year. With his arrogant nature, he'll turn around and shove it in the fans' faces with a "I told you so, I knew what I was doing and the rest of you can go **** yourselves" type of attitude.

Will NEVER go against the Buffs, but Hawk hasn't earned my respect for me to support him, much less call him a Buff. JMO.

EDIT: IN BREAKING NEWS AND THE FIRST TO REPORT.....ALLBUFFS CALCULATION OF THE VOTE PERCENTAGE ACTUALLY EQUALS 100%! :slayer::rofl:

I waver on Hawk. I think he means well, but he is starting to rub me the wrong way. I think his gameday coaching has a lot to be desired as well.

That said, Hawk could win me back as a fan. However, that starts on the field now. We know about the team off of the field. I want to see on field results. I'm tired of bitching and complaining and while I won't drink the kool-aid this spring and next fall camp, I'm taking a wait and see approach for next year.

The other thing Hawk needs to do is stfu and stop putting his foot in his mouth (internet scum, little things, 10 plays to a bowl, burned down to the ground ad naseum) and start taking responsibility for the product on the field.

I'm conflicted. I want the Buffs to win every game. I do not think Hawk has what it takes to succeed here and I want him gone, but if the Buffs are winning, I'll tolerate him. It would be slightly easier to tolerate him if he would just STFU and coach.

Hey I thought it was a legit question.. Sorry the mods who hijacked my poll by adding two options that make it a joke don't think so.. Guess I'll run my threads by the mods before I post for now on..

If it does pop,
and the buffs start winning,
Hawk will have earned the right to be an arrogant SOB.

Honestly, what can't you forgive and forget if he proves to be the slow-and-steady zen turtle who wins the race - if we win, and win big, and keep winning? If his crazy methods really worked? Then we have to go "oh, okay, you win."

I'll be one of those "men in black" people who gets zapped and remembers only the present and on.

I think CU had to bring Hawk back for a lot of reasons, which I've posted before and won't go into again.

Although, based on past performance, it appears unlikely at this time that the Buffs will be successful next season (by this I mean appearing in the CCG, which is a reasonable goal considering the dreck that is the B12 North) it is at least possible-Wall Street keeps telling me past performance is no guarantee of future results.

It's clear that Hawk is not going to change, so we'll see if his stubbornness leads to wins-I hope it does and support him and the team. However, it seems to me that if and when CU gets it's 6th loss next season (even if it's the middle of the season) Hawk should be let go.

I'll admit, being a leader, you may have to have a small (VERY small) arrogance streak in you to rally your subordinates behind you for success. Thing is, it MUST be tempered by humbleness, and (despite what Woelk and the AD PR dept. writes) I have yet to see that from Hawk. Hell, this guy has blamed everybody else for HIS problems more than GB ever did in his fifteen year association with CU.

If he wins next year, will I support the team? Damn right I will. Will Hawk have earned respect? A little...sustain the success as long as Mac (and to an extent GB) did, then maybe I'll buy into what he's done up there. As for now, I'll stick by my previous post.

It probably has to do with my military background in that when you are placed in command, you get at most 6 months to establish yourself as a leader and sustain that success. Yet even if you are the second coming, you're still under constant scrutiny. Hell, a submarine skipper was recently relieved for cause 24 months into his 28 MONTH tour! Here Hawk just got rewarded with a fifth year despite not having sustained superior performance in ALL FACETS of his job.

And as for the "men in black" who get zapped for only looking as far as the present forward - well, if you don't remember the past, you are doomed to repeat it. And I don't mean that toward you AJ, I'm referring more along the lines of Woelk, Bohn, and Hawk who seem to be content with wiping the slate clean (again and again) "moving forward" with the distinct possibility of repeating the past because they choose to ignore it.

Thank goodness as fans, we do have the luxury of being able to forget the past and move forward.

I was a BUFF fan long before Hawkins showed up, and I will be a BUFF fan long after he is gone......I will always support the players, but Hawkins has not received our earned my respect. I hope he does turn this around next yr, not for himself, but for the players and the long time BUFF fans.....GO BUFFS!!!!

I'm behind Hawkins 100% as long as he is our coach.

(At times I may be holding a big stick and wearing an evil grin, though.)

I'm a CU fan, not a fan of Hawkins. If he wins, fine. He hasn't shown me much to be supportive of yet. I was willing to buy his jive for three years. I'm not buying anymore. He has zero margin for error with me. Actually, his margin of error is less than zero. He has to win and win big next year for me to forget how crappy he's been for the last four years.

that is not ****ing cool. Wtf would the mods do that? It's not like your poll broke any of the rules.

Mods, enough!
