If he's a December enrolee, does that bode well for his admissions status?

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Committed to Colorado)

awesome. anyone know how many years we have? We are already loaded at the Soph and JR classes for OL...

With Richter?

He is currently a sophomore at Saddleback.

That gives him 3 years to play 2 (unless he somehow redshirted there, but no evidence of it.)

yikes. I mean, I like the pickup, because it seems quite a few of the Hawk OL recruits are questionable (or have been questionable), but wow, that is one bloated depth chart.

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Committed to Colorado)

According to this he was a senior in high school in the 07-08 school year. So this would be his second year at Saddleback. Looks like AJ is right (as usual) - should be 3 to play 2...

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Committed to Colorado)

A little more from Rivals:

Richter also held scholarship offers from Arkansas State and San Diego State. Arizona State, New Hampshire and a couple of Division-1 programs were showing strong interest.

Because he is going to be a mid-year transfer, Richter will sign his letter of intent this Wednesday.

From an earlier article on JCGridiron:

Richter graduated from Capistrano Valley High School (Calif.) and signed to play at the University of San Diego as a non-scholarship player before opting to play JUCO ball at Saddleback for two years.

Great size - like the pickup. I'm with Snow on this - I really think he'll need to redshirt. we have so many jr. OL for 2010, Richter needs redshirt, learn the system and be a Jr in 2011.

Welcome to the Black and Gold Mr. Richter!

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Committed to Colorado)

Should be signing on Wednesday and be here in January.

Welcome to the Buff family, Eric!

Couple notes: He also plays Center, definitely has 3 years to play 2, and was a full academic qualifier out of high school. He also had some SEC schools looking at him (Auburn, Tennessee) but they had not offered.

Very interesting. And this is how it makes sense. I was wondering why we would bring in another o-lineman into the junior class when we already have 7 guys on scholarship in that class. As a Center, though, I can see the logic.

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Committed to Colorado)

No offense intended but I didn't know anything about this yound man and therefore wasn't that excited until I read the following:

"Richter is naturally strong, possessing a 530-pound max on his bench press, a 580-pound max."

and

"They said they haven't had a physical lineman like me in their lineup the past few years and they liked how violent my hands were and how I moved"

an ultra-violent 300lb+ lineman that can bench over 500lbs? yes please.
