Alabama vs. Texas

Who you got?

I am admittedly biased against Bama, but I really think Texas wins this one. Alabama's struggles in the red zone end up being the difference. 21-16 Horns.

I like Bama by something like 10-14 points. But given how my bowl picks have gone, this means that Texas will probably win.

I see no way that Texas wins this but I also saw no way that BSU would win last night.

Alot of really interesting matchups in this game. Texas probably has the best front 7 in the country. They also have one heck of a FS. Bama's front 7 is pretty good, too. And I think overall their secondary is better, and gives them the edge on defense. Obviously neither team is going to line up and blow the other off the ball. Don't see much downfield passing happening either.

The only way I see UT winning this game is if McCoy gets hot, and I mean HOT running the ball for like 75-100 yds. That would force Bama to play alot of zone, and open things up for Shipley on some intermediate/long routes.

I think either Bama will get their screen package going and get a cheap score or two, or they will manage the clock and field position a little better and win in a squeaker. 90% sure Bama wins, but no idea if it's going to be by 1 point, or a 3 TD blowout.

Your resident barner is showing his true colors. The #2 selling University apparel in Alabama this week is TEXAS and not the barn. They are actually buying it to wear for one game.

BTW FWIW MUDHOLE.

I think it's going to be Bama by at least 14. They ran all over the Gators top 5 defense. Plus they will get pressure on McCoy which will force a pick or two. I'm rooting for the horns because of the big 12 though.

Had Ingram not won the Heisman, I might have picked Alabama. As it is, UT is getting a lot of criticism for barely beating NU. Talent wise, I'd say the two teams are nearly identical. I think Bama feels like this game is theirs, and UT feels like they have to go take it. Based on that, I give the slight edge to the whorns. ****ers.

I would like to see texas win over the $ec but I think alabama will win. The tide will make the horns one-dimensional by stuffing what little running game texas has and get after mcoy. Texas defense is good but bama is a better running team and I think that will be the difference. Bama 24 texas 13

I'd have more confidence in BAMA if they didn't sh!t the bed against the MWC in last year's BCS bowl game.
Are Saban's troops ready, or are they running around SoCal doing blow and not putting their noses in their stollen textbooks while crusing for hookers on Hollywood Blvd?

That said, I want Bama to...err...I want Texas to lose. But what I want and what I get on the football field rarely are in allignment.

Little know fact-the players voted to take a team plane to the game and stay in Tuscaloosa to practice. They could have taken the bowl allowance travel and got big bucks for their pockets. They will be ready.

I think Texas running game is the key. They have to, in the very least, make Bama respect it enough to actually worry some about it. Nebraska wasnt worried at all about their running game and just teed off. Nine sacks and a lucky Texas break later, here we are.

Bama 27
Texas 17

Saban vs Brown? That's all you need to know.

Bama big by 14 points.. No Vince Young to save Mack..

The "soft" rap is pretty accurate. If it were untrue Mack would have 4-5 Big 12 championships. I say it's closer than people think, but Bama gets up early and keeps the lead.

I'll be on the west side of LA Thursday evening wearing my Buffs gear, and while the outcome humbling the Horns faithful would be stellar, I'll be pulling for the Big 12 and would rather my dozens of UTard friends I'm meeting there be in good spirits as we drink together over the long weekend.

I think bama wins, but who really cares? football is still dead to me after this season... probably won't watch any more of this game than I have any others, just a few plays here and there

I just figured it out. A Texas win should send waves of mass celebration across their campus including many other student-athletes heading to 6th Street, some 40 hours before tip-off of CU @ UT men's basketball. Drunken revelry = less preparation, hangovers, lack of focus. I like those odds.

hard one to pick, Bama is a very good team all-a-around, and Texas always seems to find a way to win....I think the game will be close, with Colt McCoy running ability he will keep drives alive, and Bama strong running game will eat the clock up....It come down to turnovers and mentally mistakes...have to go with the BIG 12 team, Texas - 24 Bama - 20

I would like to see Texas win for 1. The Big XII, and 2. I would like to see Coach Brown win a big game without Radio at QB.

Rep. Vince was an education major, and when a friend told me he was in her boyfriend's "Children's Literature" class, my response was "Oh that's cute. Is he learning how to read?"

The nickname was given to him by his own teammates as an underclassman.

I see thunder and lightning flashing across the sky. I see tornados and biblical rain thrashing the stadium. I see evil, deep and insensate. I see dogs lying down with cats. I see the earth opening and swallowing the horrific congregation of evil in Pasadena as The Tide rolls in and the bestial Whorns arrive en masse. I see pestilence and pain thundering across the land. I see.....oh what the ****...I seeThe Tide rolling...27 - 24. :asskicking:

It looks to me like Alabama is the superior team in every way, more complete team, balanced offense, etc. That being said Texas will probably win by 4 TDs because that's how my bowl predictions are going.

I see Bama by 14. McCoy can run yes, but can he do it against Bama's 250+ lb backers that run 4.5s? UT's o-line is weak as well, Bama's d-line will eat them alive, or at the very least tie them up with a 3 man rush allowing the LBs to make plays. Bama's secondary is solid as well, and UT is very soft. UT's best chance comes with McElroy, if he is off his game they might have a shot, if he is on like he was against FL it will be a long day for Texas. They have a great D but they are somewhat undersized and haven't played a team as physical as Bama. Speedwise I think both teams are pretty equal, but Bama's size and physicalness wins out in the end.

Stand by my Texas prediction. Red zone defense and special teams make the difference.
