MBB Travels to Texas A&M Saturday

GAME #19 at Texas A&M Aggies (13-5, 2-2 Big 12)

• Date: Saturday, Jan. 23 • Tipoff: 11:47 a.m. (MST)

• Television: Big 12 Network (Altitude Sports Entertainment), ESPN360.com, ESPN Full Court

• Announcers: Brad Sham (p-b-p), Reid Gettys (analyst)

• Location: Reed Arena (12,292)

• CU Radio: KKZN 760-AM: Mark Johnson (p-b-p), Charles Johnson (analyst); Sirius Channel 122

• Series vs. A&M: CU leads the series, 9-7; CU leads 8-7 in Big 12. A&M has won the last six in a row.

QUICKLY: Today marks the first time in Big 12 play that CU has opened the first five games of the conference season against opponents from the south • CU entered the week ninth nationally in FT percentage, 14th in FG%, 47th in scoring offense and 49th in steals per game • Cory Higgins notched his 200th career assist with a pair at OSU. He's tied for 22nd place and is the 23rd player in school history to tally 200 hand-outs • CU has shot 50 percent or better in three of four Big 12 games (.505).

AGAINST THE AGGIES: Colorado leads the all-time series, 9-7 and hold an 8-7 edge in Big 12 play. However, Texas A&M has won the last six in a row in the series since 2005 (three in Boulder, twice in College Station, once neutral court). CU is 2-3 at Reed Arena.

A&M UPDATE: Texas A&M brings a perfect 10-0 record at home similar to CU's previous three road opponents (Tulsa, Texas, Oklahoma State). The Aggies are 2-2 in Big 12 play having defeated Nebraska and Oklahoma at home, falling at K-State and at Texas. Head Coach Mark Turgeon is in his third year in College Station (62-26, .705) and has tallied back-to-back 20-wins season with the Aggies (fifth overall in his 12 full years as a head coach). Texas A&M was a NCAA Tournament team a year ago (second round) and return four starters from a year ago.

*****************

The two Aggies to really watch are Senior Guard #15 David Sloan, who averages 17.5 ppg, and Senior 6'9" Forward #00 Bryan Davis, who averages 9.6 ppg and 7.1 rpg. Got to keep Sloan from lighting up the scoreboard and somehow keep Davis off the glass. Alec Burks needs 20 points today to move into 7th place on the all-time Buffs scoring list for freshmen.

Looks like they're not proof-reading their articles very well. :smile2:

I actually think this is a winnable road game, but who knows with this team.

All of A&M's losses are to teams who are currently ranked or were ranked at the time they lost to them.

This would be a big win. I think we've got a puncher's chance if we can shoot well and take care of the ball. But they're a very good team and this would be a major upset. Can't wait to watch. When we finally get this road monkey off our backs, I don't want to miss seeing it.

i don't think this is a good match-up for us. not a fan of Turgeon from his playing days, but i do think he's a pretty good coach. maybe not as good as a sober Billy Gillespie, but soild. aggies have too much size inside for us. and they are unafraid to give a foul to get a foul....and we don't have fouls to give.

We need to get the ball out of Tomlinson's hands more often. He gets himself in really bad situations by picking up his dribble in odd spots.

We're hanging tough, though. Still even with them with under 8 minutes to go in the half.

Agree on the rebounding. We're fighting more. We'll never be good at it. Don't buy the crap so many people are posting about rebounding being completely about effort. If the other team is trying hard too but they're bigger, quicker, stronger and jump higher... odds are they're getting more rebounds. Good positioning and good effort only gets you so far.

Tied at 28 with 3 minutes lift in the half. We're playing well today.

Feed goes out. Nice!

Good first half for us though. If Relphorde can get some buckets in the second half, I think we are good shape.

32-30 lead at the half.

Dufault's got 8 points today. If he can find his game and we can start counting on him to average about 10 ppg, this Buffs team gets a lot better.

Just tracking the game on gamecast, but it looks like Relphorde is having a completely miserable first half. Is that about the picture??

Struggling with his shot, but he's grabbed 4 rebounds and gotten 2 steals.

Yeah, I have liked him banging down low for rebounds.

One thing I really like about this team is we consistently get points off steals. We never seem intimidated either.

You knew that TAMU would come out of the locker room with more intensity. Looks like we've weathered it pretty well.

Down 38-41 with 13 minutes left.

Down by seven as I look at the score. Looking at the stats, aTM's struggle with three-pointers is keeping the Buffs in this one.

Ugh. Tomlinson really needs to stop being so predictable with his passes and where he going to go with the ball. He is not quick enough to get away with it.

Yeah. If they were shooting well from the outside, we'd have no chance against these guys. let's hope it continues.

That was a killer. Great defense but can't get the damn rebound and they get an easy 2 on the follow.
