What a sad, pathetic excuse of a program

As a Buff season ticket holder, I can't believe how far this program has fallen. I wonder how long before we are kicked out of the Big 12?

Something happen today to bring this on?

Or was that just a random, drive-by bash? :smile2:

No, nothing happened today. It is just a shame to watch this program die a slow, ugly death. I think for the first time in many years, I will not bother going to the recruiting luncheon. I just do not see the reasoning. If the powers that be, care as little as the do, why should I continue to support this mess?

This thread has revolutionized the way I look at CU football. The original poster brought up so many new and interesting ideas that had never occurred to me before, much less ever having been discussed here...

:congrats:

for me it is about the kids...they are not pathetic.

they work their asses off. they have a totally different collegiate experience than most of us. one that involves being under scrutiny.

i salute them.

and i will continue to support them.

with accompanying emails to the adminstration expressing my upsetness...

Doom possibility. but let me ask a question. What exactly do you think is going to change in the short term? You still have the same players in place. They have proven to be total incompetents. I wish I shared the blind ambition that some do but I just don't see it.

One of the aspects of 2009's disappointing season is how the four years of losing seasons is converting long term fans into disinterested passionless consumers of an inferior football product.

There is a difference between being a fan and a consumer. Fandom is an irrational bond with a program that materializes in the form of doing stupid stuff without asking "why am I doing this?" Paint your car? Hell yeah! Build a custom BBQ for the tailgate and obsess over the cooking process? That's what I'm talking about. Gameday is a sacred ritual. Buff fans put on the BnG and do our thing.

Nowadays, 5 out of 12 games aren't even on Saturday. On these idle Saturdays, Buff fans got to sit on the sofa and follow top 25 teams playing in the money timeslots. Road game = automatic loss. Who wants to burn a grand or more and a few days off work to come home a loser?

Fandom had erroded into consumerism. The one-time fan has been reduced to a mere shopper. The protest comes in the form of cash and attendance. No likey the experience? Then no spendy the money. If CU can't turn Folsom on a perfect autumn afternoon into a glorious celebration of frienship and pagentry punctuated by beer and cheering on the home team, then screw it.

When the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, did our grand fathers say screw it? Hell no.

CU gets knocked down. It'll get up again. No one's going to keep it down. No administator or coach or disinterested consumer is capable of killing the program. It's not the size of the dog in this fight; It's the size of the fight in the dog.

CU knows no defeat. Shoulder to shoulder we will fight, fight, fight, fight, fight!

Great post! I would add that there is a very strong correlation to the current state of the economy. People just don't have the disposable income they did 3 and 4 and 5 years ago, so they've been force to make choice more tied to a positive "return on investment". If the positive ROI isn't there, then why spend the money if you have bills to pay?

Skiing is doing good and Chip won the mascot Championship, so we just suck in football and basketball.

GO BUFFS!!

did you just compare the buff football program to the us winning world war 2?

Just look at recruiting. The offers of the recruits we have verbals from is less than impressive. I'd bet we only have a few legit BCS caliber players in this class. This mess is going to take years to clean up. What is the most frustrating to me is that there has not been any sign of a staff upgrade what-so-ever. That is just beyond belief to me. How can anyone be expected to take this program serious?

I know it feels good to vent, but most of us have already gone through the anger stage you're in right now. We've moved on to ambivalance.
