Seven wins or more, I'm okay with him for another season. 8 wins*, and I like the guy again. 9 or more, he's my hero.

Less than seven and I'm out of patience.

EDIT: For the record, I've always liked Coach Hawkins. What I mean, is if he wins 8 or more, I'll trust him as a coach again.

Unfortunately, we've slipped as a program to the point where 7 wins has to be viewed as progress. It would be hard for me to justify firing him after a 7 win season, although I certainly won't be satisfied with that.

7 regular season wins - All home games (Hawaii, Georgia, Baylor, TTech, Iowa St, KSt) plus CSU

Bowl game win would be a cherry but not necessary to stay

I decided on "8".

I almost went with "7", but if we went 6-6 and then won a low-level bowl game I believe that a coaching change would be in order (same with 7-5 with a bowl loss). 7-5 with a bowl win or 8-4 with a bowl loss and I'd feel we had a nice season and look forward to seeing what Hawkins can do with that huge 2011 senior class and favorable home schedule.

7 would mean it was Hawk's best season at CU, and I think he needs to deliver his best season to stay. I also think it's important to have a strong showing in a bowl game. I'd hate to win 7 then get blasted by UTEP in the Houston Bowl.

8.

Not including a bowl win.

Need to break the cycle of mediocracy. Also, 8 would mean that the team goes to a little bit better bowl game, preferrably in tejass, where some of the better recruits can see the team.

15.

Honestly, I think 8 should be enough. At this point my confidence in him is so low that I really don't see just scraping out a winning record being enough to convince me that he's the guy long-term. Get to 8-4 and I'll think about it....

The fact of the matter is, unless we have 9 or more wins and a little national exposure, we won't be able to recruit any kids. Make no bones about it, the class we have coming in will come back to haunt us in 3-4 years. If we have back to back classes like this, we could be in a heap of trouble for years to come.

8 or out in my mind. 7 would be a disappointment. 8 would be OK and the minimum number that I'd accept as far as keeping him. The other factor will be recruiting. Remember, 'braska fired Solich after a 10 win season because he wasn't recruiting well. If Hawkins wins 8 but his recruiting class is still not getting close to top 20, I still might want him gone. If he is getting nothing but 2 and 3 stars next year after winning even 8 or 9 games, then I'd be real concerned.

I don't agree with this at all. Recruiting is all about perception. Right now, the perception of CU is that it's on a downward trend, thus recruiting this year hasn't been as good as it was the previous couple of years. If CU reverses that trend, the perception is reversed as well. If Hawk can win 7 games (I'm not convinced he can), then he can tell prospective recruits that they have turned the corner and that future years will be even better. I'm not sure I would believe him, but he's not trying to recruit me.

Respectfully disagree. The in-state class is outstanding for 2011. It won't take 9 to get those guys excited about the Buffs. We could literally land a Top 30 class that was half Colorado kids.

:yeahthat:

I voted 8, but with the schedule 7 wouldn't be the end of the world. Winning out at Folsom and beating CSU @Invesco shouldn't be too much to ask. I know Georgia is in Boulder this season, but damn it there is some making up to do for the CSU and Toledo losses. Whether it's 7 or 8, they had better be competitive in every game and have a shot at winning going in to the 4th quarter. No more embarrassing losses where the commentators say over and over again how the Buffs don't look like a Big 12 team.

Winning home games is great, but one of the many things Talkins HAS TO DO is win on the road. Were not going to see 6,7,8, or 9 wins if he doesn't.

I agree, but outside of Georgia and TT the home/in-state schedule isn't very difficult. All games are winnable imo, and if Hawk wants to keep his job he'd better at least win those.

an absolute minimum of 10 wins and being very competitive in the losses. 7, 8 or 9 win seasons should be the norm and he has not even come close to that so he does not get the benifit of just showing some improvement. he needs to show that he can compete with the big boys. he recruited with them his first few years here so there is talent and potential. he needs to demonstrate that he can be a big time coach not only on tuesdays but on game day too and the only way to do that is win 10+ games this year. so an example of what would satisfy me.....

csu W 38-14

Bowl game W

not going to happen.

7 wins and getting toasted by the mizzous and OU's of the world is just more of the same and is not improvment. we have seen that show before and know how it ends.

with that schedule if we win 8 games we would be playing way better football than we have. that means beating a nebraska, or a kansas and going 3-1 in the opening slate. i don't think we can expect to win at OU and mizzou or nebraska. but we need to win at kansas and beat texas tech at home. i don't think we do it and i think its cause we dont have all the pieces in place from athleticism and depth to consistent game strategies to not having a back that weighs more than 180 pounds. its time for hawk to go but 8 wins and i could see him staying.

10 wins total, I don't care how it is done- 9 and a bowl win, 10 and a bowl loss. Last year I would have been happy with 7 & a bowl, meaning the team was showing progress. Now Hawkins is at the impress the hell out of me or get the eff out stage.

i might buy in again if Hawk wins 7. predicting 4, maybe 5. i think we do have bowl eligible talent but past experience says we find a way to lose on the road and to inferior taent.

This is a very difficult question. You look at our schedule and think that 6 or 7 wins realistically is an accomplishment. However, I think this needs to be a make or break year. Another year of 6 wins and a low-tier bowl win or loss will not excite the masses, create a buzz around the program and demonstrate positive momentum.

I truly think the best case scenario is either another crash and burn season, Hawk is gone and we start from scratch. Or a 8+ win season with a decent bowl game. Another season mired in mediocrity is the worst thing that can happen to this program right now. 6 wins and a Texas Bowl loss with Hawkins staying at the helm will firmly entrench us in the bottom of the Big 12 for a long time.

More than 1 loss and for me it's

I won't be satisfied with 7, but this administration will clearly retain his buyout with 7 wins.

I'd say 8 but I don't want hawk here anymore. He is killing this program and and has brought a ho-hum, no remorse about losing and it's spreading to the fans. He recruits and runs this program like he is in the wac. I hope for cu that a winning season comes in 2010 but if there was anyway we could go to a bowl game and he get fired would be nirvana.

7 people said they wouldn't want to keep Hawk if the team won 12 or 13 games next year? Why not? I thought the goal was to win. And if he's winning 12 games with good kids, that's even better.

I don't think it will matter what we say here because I don't see the progress on the field that will lead us to a winning season. That in mind however we need to win at least seven and be showing an upward curve at the end of the season. This would mean that the team is finally moving the right direction and has hope for the future.

As I said I don't think it will happen and I think we are looking at a 3-4 win season next year.

Depends....what kind of team GPA are we talking about?

Seriously, ask me later. He's lost me. I'd need to be seriously wow'd.

Not just record, but scoring a few blow outs on the road.
