First Commit- Where & When?

One of the things I've always found interesting about recruiting is the strategy involved in the number of offers and the timing of them. I think Boulder posted a reply to someone's question saying we had 4 or 5 known instate offers out to '11 recruits at this point.

While I'd love to think one of them will commit this week, I'd imagine most recruits will take a wait and see approach, especially given the negative pub generated by this year's signing day. With that in mind I'm thinking our first commit won't come until after the coaches get out on the road in May ( or April?). I'm thinking our first commit comes in the late spring from California. What do you guys think?

i really have no idea who its going to be or when. i could see our first commit being a life-long fan from colorado that doesn't care who is coaching the team, ala slavin.

This is a hard one, I think a lot of kids are going to put CU off until the season comes to an end. To see who the new coach is and what the staff will looks like.....but I agree with Bob, it will come from a life long fan of CU football...

Much better! I bet the guy will be from Alaska or North Dakota.

And Hawk will spend 2 weeks on a roadie up there in order to land him as a "Soft Verbal" who still plans on making visits to Montana State and the Univ of South Dakota in hopes that one of them will offer. :wink2:

Hey, I'm working on my 10-year old twins to commit at the end of the year ala the 13-year to USC today. A QB and a WR AND TWO RECRUITS FROM (wait for it.....)

TEXAS!

Those kids have a lot of work left to do in the classroom. Do they have any of their core classes taken care of? And when the hell are they going to take the ACT? We don't accept just anyone, you know.

Does the Leander Independent School District gifted and talented program count? If not, we're f'd. I'll make sure they're only official is to Boulder....

One problem we're going to run into is that there will be fewer and fewer "life-long" CU fans in the recruiting pool. Next year's class will have been born in 1993, having no memory of CU's glory years, save for 2001.

And this is why CU will never be competitive again. You know they'd get into KjSU. And hell, if they're good enough UT would find a way to get them admitted. But we can't get them in to CU??? That is total crap!! If we really want to be competitive, we've got to find a way to get prime kids like this in to CU... :smile2:

I heard we don't accept Show & Tell or Nap Time credits. If true, that's killing us!

Crap! Might be too late for the twins, but not for the 6 year-old...I'll get him into advanced astrophysics ASAP!

A one star? Wearing dodger blue?

I don't think so.....

Honestly, Brock Berglund, before the school year ends.

Unless he gets on that reality show tracking the recruitment of several guys. If he gets on the show, he'll drag it out. That's the only reason I didn't pick him. I do think he's our QB for the 2011 class, though.

Coleman sounded like he'd commit as soon as the coaches would let him. Berglund sounds like another good candidate if they offer him.

I don't know if JuCo's count for this prediction thread, but Shaun Simon is listed by Rivals as a pledge for 2011. I think we all expected him to stick with CU, but it's still nice to see him really committed...

...now hopefully he just loves Boulder and CU, not Hawk, because things may change at the end of the season.

I was going to say a DT commit but amazingly, hawk and staff have no offers to any DT for 2011 yet. I had to laugh because you don't sign any dt's in the 2010 class and then you have bonsu go down and despite sending numerous offers out for 2011, none of them are to dt's. Note to hawk, you might want to get in on some of these guys earlier than november. But hey, I'm internet scum so .....

syko... i have first hand knowledge bonsu is not worried... its not like he had micro fracture surgery... he has his meniscus cleaned out.... he is out for the spring...that's all and even that is a precautionary measure he could prolly participate in the last week of spring and the game but theyd rather let him heal fully

I had my meniscus repaired last year, and I am 20 again...it is no big deal, as long as there is no other damage to the knee......
