The Buffs plan to be smart with Stewart. Hagan said Stewart is “the guy” and the others know that, so his carries in spring won’t be excessive.
“We have to develop the other guys,” Hagan said. “Lockridge is going to benefit from those other guys not being here.”

Also, take a look at what he says about the guys we did land in the class. Looks like one of those RBs has got a good chance of pulling a polk.

Also, the Darrell Scott saga refuses to die.

Actually, I wish the best for that guy. I'd hate to see all that talent go to waste. And by all accounts, he's a really nice guy. Just needs to get focused and fully committed to what it takes to be great at this level of competition. I'm kind of hoping he and Hawkins work out a Celestine type scenario where he redshirts in 2010 and works his way back onto scholarship by meeting certain criteria.

Scott should just man up, drive up to Boulder, sit in Hawkins office until Dan let's him come in and then ask to walk on.

How hard is it to get in touch with Hawk? Seems like an excuse or bad information.

Ask Hawk, he seems to have trouble getting in touch with himself sometimes.

Sorry I couldn't resist. Actually it depends on if he wants to be contacted. As with most people at the head of a large organization he has filters between himself and others. He may have those filters up right now as he is working on other things or it could be that DS isn't working very hard to get ahold of him. Leave a message or two but not follow up, etc.

Somehow I think that there is a lot more to this situation than anyone outside of it knows. It may be very interesting when and if more details eventually come out.

Why all the hate for Hagan? He's done a decent job. Nothing great, but he's not a bad coach imo. You?

He coached Darrell Scott up?

Its not necessarily hate, its just being 3-9 and four losings seasons in a row so I really don't care to hear any blah, blah, blah from our coaches other than seeing some results on the field. Shut up coaches and get the players ready to play for the season and actually win some damn games.

He obviously failed with scott, but does that define his entire coaching career at Colorado?

Hagan is probably my all-time favorite buff, but he is nowhere near the rb coach eb was. Not even close. Scott, sumler, who's next?

Since when did you start defending Sumler? Wow. I haven't been really paying attention recently. I thought you of all people would've been thrilled that Sumler left.

Only if Scott was staying.. Now we have limited depth RB wise.. Its a joke.

The whole program is a joke at the moment. Not defending Hagan and his depth issue, he clearly needs to step up.

I wonder how he recruits. Do they give him a number of 'ships and say go get'em? Or does he have to pitch and fight for every kid he wants to bring in. I'm sure all coaches have to justify their offers, but I'm sure Hawkins gives more slack to some.

Yeah which is why Hagan along with the rest of Hawk's staff needs to go out the door right along with Hawk..
I think I'd retain Hagan if I were coming in. Maybe not at the RB spot though. He has a lot of potential to be a great coach, he just has to take his lumps and learn from his mistakes.

I would also keep Hagan around. His coaching will improve with experience. How difficult is it to coach a RB with no offensive line, and no QB? Plus you can not coach a kid that has no heart or want, or lacks the skill to play at this level. I doubt very much that he has the ability to offer a ship to any kids he wants, I am sure it is a group decision. Plus as we have seen EVERY position has been difficult for us to recruit. I like how some are trying to compare him to EB as a coach. I remember EB getting hammered after he drove Huston out of CU. Look at were he is at now! Hagan will be just fine, on top of being a Legend at CU, it says a lot that he is still here, commited to CU when you know he has connections and could have left with many of the other coaches.

I am very excited to see lockridge in action. I feel and have felt that he has Pro potential. He just needs the ball. =) He is FAST plus he has the size. I like him a lot.

So you're calling Hawk's favorites slackers? :smile2:

A kid has to be willing to be "coached up" in order to benefit from good coaching.

Did you read Brooks' recent article about K. Celestine? By his own admission, KC didn't bother to learn the playbook and didn't know what routes he was supposed to be running. Did the coaching staff "fail" KC? Not by my standards. Was Hawk an idiot for not giving KC more playing time? Seems not. There's a certain minimum in terms of attitude and determination that a player has to bring to the table in order to improve and excel. It sounds like the new and improved KC will show up with the goods this time. Miraculously, his coaches will do a much better job with him this time around.

I agree, but there's plenty of blame to go around on this one. Hagan should've been able to get through to the kid and set him straight. Maybe he did. Who knows.

Yeah maybe, but he is a coach not a shrink! Who knows what this kid needs in his life, I wish the best for him. IMO I dont think Scott put out the effort he needed to to get the touches he wanted. I believe he has the tools, he just needs to get his head staight. EB got the same crap for driving Huston out.

Just in case you hadn't noticed, Scott left the program. Walkon?:wow:

Yes, walkon, see if he can try out for the team and if he is good enough and shows a commitment to the program then give him a jersey. If he produces and shows value to the team then perhaps he can get his scholarship back. I refuse to throw these kids away like pieces of garbage just because they lack maturity. I remember myself back in the day and the lack of maturity I had, I still pay the price, I wish someone intervened on my behalf then.
