Who should go with us assuming CU bolts for the Pac 10? Utah or BYU? they both have thier merits, you get the same media market, BYU has more history, Utah is better right now.

Utah. **** the mormons. Plus, BYU fails many other factors that the pac wants.

in a perfect world, texas and CU to the p10, like was discussed in 94.

the conference would be a monster.

it ain't going to happen, but if you are asking what i'd "wish" for, it would be that...

If we leave for the Pac 10, a new in-conference rivalry for CU will need to be forged since *ebraska will be out of the picture. In this scenario, I see Utah as the school over BYU that we can have a staunch but healthy rivalry with. Their fans and culture are much more similar to ours.

I would think Utah would almost have to be our main in conference rival, every other school already has one. We would also have some pretty interesting match ups, CU vs UCLA would be pretty awesome. CU vs Cal would be interesting in a similarity kind of way. CU vs UW would be an overly friendly rivalry considering our joint hatred for Rick.

You dont see the natural rivalry with fUCLA?

I suppose there can be a rivalry with fUCLA, but only to a certain extent. U$C will always be their main rival.

To answer the question, it's got to be Utah. Utah falls better into the mold of what the Pac 10 wants from it's member institutions. It's not looking for a religious school or a service academy.

I agree, Utah fits the Pac-10 mold much better then BYU. I could definitely see CU-Utah to the PAC-10... makes alot of sense. If not Utah maybe in some scenario Boise State would make the jump. But I don't think they would be as high up the list as CU and Utah.

Forgot to add: Since we are already conditioned to hate the color red, the rivalry transition from kNU to Utah will be smooth. :smile2:

how about we think big and go PAC:16???

CU, Utah, OU, OSU, Texas and A&M to the PAC:10 to creates the greatest super conference on earth.

If just 4 then:

CU, Utah, UT and A&M

if just 2 then:

CU + Utah.

I don't want Texas in any league that CU is involved with. Razorbuff made a comment that UT basically killed the SWC, and is now doing the same thing to the Big 12. Screw them. Let them go to the SEC or the Big 10 (really?!?) and kill somebody elses conference.

The man speaks sense.

Yeah can't wait for that Utah CU game at the end of November..

There's nothing that says that CU and NU couldn't continue to play, you know. Not that I'd want that. I'm sick of those assholes. But just the same, if they really needed it, that could be worked out.

Ya, why would we want a rivalry with a team that's been to a couple BSC Bowls in the past 4 or 5 years. How many has Nebraska been to during that time?

We leave we will not be playing Nebraska ever again. Nebraska could care less about us..

I think this whole thing is a joke because first off the athletic department is still a mess so right now I don't know how any conference looks at CU and says wow, let's add them.. This isn't 1994.. This isn't even 2002.. I don't see any benefit of joining the Pac 10 ( I still don't think an invite is coming from them anyway) other than another reason to run from our problems and think that somehow some new conference will hide the fact that we have piss poor facilities, an administration that could care less about athletics, and a football program that is a complete joke..

Yeah, Utah is a bigger program than Nebraska now..

Sigh. ever heard of TV markets? No reason to add CU? CU is a very valuable addition to any conference.

I would argue that it's not the entire athletic department that is a mess, rather just the football program. That can be traced to one individual. Said individual won't be here much longer, and in fact would be long gone before the move is made anyway.

CU is really the Pac 10's best option is all it boils down to. Utah and BYU would probably beat us in football right now, but we have way more history than they do. CU has much better academics than any other possibility. That is assuming that the Pac 10 doesn't want to start going out of region and trying to bring in Texas or something. Since I don't think that's a realistic possibility, we have all of the leverage and can get what is best for the school money wise. We also should be considering it because it sounds like the Big 12 is looking at some major changes from possible Big 10 expansion.

:canabis: yeah man, I see the light now.. We will win the Rose Bowl in 3 years in this conference..

Maybe, maybe not. But we'll never win the Rose Bowl as a member of the (soon to be defunct) Big 12. You gotta think big, my man. Think big.

Who picked Dan Talkins again as coach? That's right, the same guy that will be picking the next coach..

If the PAC10 ever invites the Buffs to join up, they may make a requirement that the "said individual" can't be a part of the deal.

Are WSU and OSU really any worse than match ups against powerhouses like ISU, KU, KSU, or Baylor?

That's really taking an unfair stab at OSU as well imo, with Riley at the helm and seemingly not going anywhere, they're definitely a team on the rise.

@the doubting jimbo...

i thought you prided yourself on your business sense? well, frankly, you are displaying none of it in this thread.

let me help you out...

expansion isn't going to be based upon CURRENT competitiveness. if it were, they'd take boise state ahead of CU. it is based on a lot of factors including academics and cultural fit and such, but, in the end, it comes down to MONEY.

if the p10 adds utah and CU, they add 2 large and growing television markets. they increase their tv footprint to a larger size than the b12. and, they can add the always-lucrative conf. champ game.

furthermore, if you look around, you'll see that candidates that fit the p10's criteria aren't exactly in large supply. CU is going to be at the very top of their list (presuming they can't steal texas and i don't think that they can).
