Ryan Walters gone to Arizona to coach with Brown

That sucks!

I can imagine he sees a brighter future in Arizona, but it still sucks to lose "one of our own".

Interesting, but ouch. I was very sorry to see Brown leave, and apparently Walters feels the same.

good opportunity for RW....sucks for us. probably a good move in the big picture, can't blame him for that. Mike Stoops seems like a psychopath but the guy can coach D.

that Brown brings him along speaks to the quality of Ryan as a former player and human being. that I can respect the hell out of and be proud of our guys.

I am rapidly becoming a Zona fan with these moves. Hope the former Buffs can help them challenge for the top spot in the Pac next year.

Relax, after Hack leaves, we'll have a lot of good Buffs coming back. People always leave a devastated area and then come back when that area improves and is good to live in again.

Good point! couldn't agree more. But I don't want to wait on that to happen.

I dont know that it is that good of an opportunity I think Stoops will be out at Zona in two years or less. He took a long time to "turn" that program around and even then last years season wasnt exactly stellar. As for your assertion that he can flat coach D I dont see it they gave up:

27 to Iowa
36 to UW
38 to stanford
44 to Oregon
32 to OSU
33 to that offensive power Nebraska.

The held only 2 decent teams to under 20 all year a 4-8 ASU team and USC's worst team in about a decade.

i always appreciate a post with facts. fair points. however, i think Stoops has a solid track record as a DC. as a HC i think he's kind of the mental midget of the Stoops boys. he seems the least cerebral. though i'd certainly be happy to trade Collins for Stoops.

The point is that Ryan is trying to break into coaching. Having worked at AZ adds to the resume as he will have played under one system and worked under another. Just like UofA Masters on top of a BA from CU adds "some diversity" to his resume. Both degrees and all playing/work experience from one place isn't as good. These positions are hard to come by and this is a good move for Ryan's long term coaching resume. Good luck to him!

Exactly. While it would have been nice to have him on the staff next season, branching out is a good move for him.
