Scotty also had the following to add, but (once again) we were over the 1,000 characters per blog limit if we included it. So here goes:

Team Matchups:
To assess the teams we drafted, it almost is the first-team O-line (Fighting Cody's) up against the first team D-line (Hansen's Horns). I think that my defense is much better with a great defensive line, and awesome secondary. The linebackers are fast guys but the more experienced D-line will help them to get better looks. You certainly have an advantage in the short passing game with Thornton and Deehan but with Orms, Polk, and Perkins in coverage, I'm not too worried.

When my team is on offense we are obviously going to spread you out and take shots deep in the passing game. With Simas, Jefferson, and Simmons at WR up against your secondary I think we'll be very effective at doing just that. I'm worried about Tau at RT especially up against Herrod, but hopefully Walters can double-team him to give Tyler extra time in the pocket. The rest of my O-line should stack up well against your D-line in the running game or in pass protection. Adkins and Stevens have a lot more playing time than Goree and Obi but those guys are physical. I would suspect with your studly set of LB's that you would be zone blitzing to rattle Tyler and that would be my only concern facing your defense, especially without Scotty McKnight on the field.

My rebuttal:
I like how my squad is more veteran. I also think that while Scotty got the better DL, it's not better than my OL. But my DL is better than his OL. I really like his secondary. But the only matchup I'm really worried about is Simas and I've got Jalil for that. My linebackers are loads better, though. I probably got the 3 starters for the CSU game. On offense, B-Lock gives me a big advantage. And my TEs are going to create matchup problems for him. The Fighting Codys definitely take this game.

Thoughts?

Pretty neat.

After looking at some of the players picked and which round (i.e. RB: Quentin Hildreth (Round 15) ) I figured out that if someone took Lockridge in the 4th round, the other guy knew he'd get one of the remaining RBs, so went to other positions first. That's why some decent players were picked in 14th and 15th rounds? Because you knew they'd still be there when you got around to it?

Exactly. Supposedly for Saturday how they'll do it is if one squad picks a player... then the other squad automatically gets the guy who is behind him on the depth chart. If we'd known that (and had the depth chart), we could have knocked this thing out in half the time.

Exactly, although Nik will disagree when I bent the rules by taking Orms, Perkins, and Polk leaving him with few options at safety. In hindsight I'd consider a trade for a linebacker, Nik? haha

haha, you were on it quicker than me!

I really should have gotten back at you by going to a 34 defense and taking Rippy.

Seriously, though, I could totally live with a DL of Herrod-Goree-Obi paired with a LB group of Rippy-Sipili-Major-Beatty. I actually think that's a stronger group than I got by playing it straight and plugging in Hartigan at DE.

I agree that with that set the 34 would be better. I really like Rippy and was pretty shocked that Webb has outplayed him for the #2 MLB spot, I'll be watching that spot in the Spring Game (on TV) to see how they really do.

Beatty is a hybrid kind of guy anyway so you still get that outside speed rush. I kind of figured the opposite when I took Forrest West, as he can stand up and play OLB at times. I should have taken Major at that spot but I was trying to monopolize the DL.

Looks like a God damn pillow fight.

0-0 tie.

Relax, it's a joke. I like Scotty's side.

My side took a big hit. B-Lock's not playing.

So that I have a RB, I'll take Corey Nabors as a replacement. I like Corey, but he's more of a special teams guy from what I've seen.

It's a good thing Hansen has wheels. He's going to be running for his life with that OLine in front of him. Yikes. :)

haha, as long as Simas, WillJeff, and Simmons will be running past his secondary then we'll take our chances.
