So, A Buff free Draft

I think there's a decent chance Geer gets picked still. Maybe even Burney too, his versatility should interest some teams.

The Buffs looked great in that practice draft last Tuesday. Best practice draft I've seen.

Even CSU got a guy drafted. Maybe we have a few in the last round. Remember the good old days when we had guys go in the first round and usually 5 or 6 every year get drafted somewhere in the draft, sometimes more.

OK, I'm pretty sure what the answer is. But, because I know you all blame Hawkins, why not one of you do some research. How many of Hawkins' recruits were elibible for the draft today?

Any of them that are 2 years removed from high school. Your point is?

OK, who was entered in the draft? Come on, man, don't be a smart ass. You knew what I meant. :smile2: My point is that, and maybe I'm being overly sensitive, that threads like this are either saying or implying that Hawkins is to blame. At any rate, I think, and I may be wrong, that there were three seniors that were Hawkins recruits. Anyway, I've said all this before and its a broken record.

its like your going through menopause lately, DBT. man up.

OK, how about this. How many Buffs were in the draft?

* Hawkins recruits (I think)
+ Barnett recruits (I think)

Trace Adams
Jake Behrens +
Cha'pelle Brown *
Ben Burney +
Marcus Burton +
Patrick Devenny +
Matt DiLallo +
Justin Drescher *
Riar Geer +
Taj Kaynor +
Shaun Mohler *
Kevin Moyd +
Tyler Sale
Devin Shanahan +
Jeff Smart +
Bryan Stengel +
Luke Walters

I'm not sure about Adams, Sale, and Walters

I just want to make sure folks aren't blaming Hawkins for the lack of draft picks

I thought for sure Geer was gonna get drafted at the end of the season... but damn did he ever set records for an awful combine

anyone google 'elibible' yet? dbt has been asking all kinds of questions about being 'elibible' for stuff.

12 players participated in the CU Pro day but only one (Geer) was invited to the Combine. You can see the pro day results here. I think that Geer and Burney were the only ones who probably had a chance to get drafted but I wouldn't be surprised if at least 3 or 4 of our guys ended up as UDFAs.

Doesn't matter who recruited them. What matters is the staff that failed to coach them up and help them realize their talent. And yes, that is on Hawkins.

Now, you are reminding me of my smart-ass twelve year-old son. Thanks for your pre-adolescent humor....
 I was trying to think of a reply, but couldn't come up with anything related to Moon Unit Zappa! Pre-adolescent? :wow:

Well this sucks, but it's around the time all the guys are graduating that are from the Barnett/Hawk scandal mess years.

Next year should be a lot better, Solder sounds like a possible first rounder, Jimmy Smith could go pretty high if he has a good senior year. Jalil Brown, Scotty McKnight, Mike Sipili, and Marquez Herrod are all possible NFL players with good senior years too.

And of course we have the #1 overall pick in 3/4 years waiting in the wings: TE Clark Evans. The first #1 overall pick to be used on a TE ever.

You should have said this.....Dweezil is a much more relevant pop icon, so quote that d-bag, not Moon Unit....

so what will your excuse be next year when we have nobody taken in the draft?

Solder is already ranked as a top 10 offensive tackle for the 2011 class. Obviously a lot of ball to be played and juniors to declare early still, but he certainly would be drafted.

Jimmy Smith and Jalil Brown should also get lots of attention from NFL scouts, and would think both have a good shot at getting drafted if things go well for them this season and in combine/pro day workouts. Smith certainly seems to have NFL corner on his radar.

Not sure on Marquez Herrod just yet. I think he could make a push to be an NFL prospect as run-stuffing, gap penetrating, DE's who weigh near 300 pounds are always popular.

Michael Sipili would is a darkhorse candidate as well, but if Marcus Burton didn't get drafted then hard to say he would.
