Let's see, in the last 4-5 years, Oklahoma has played Oregon, Washington, Alabama and Miami. Texas has played Ohio State twice and Arkansas twice, Oklahoma State played Georgia last year. So yeah, you're totally right. None of these teams EVER play any tough OOC games.

Nebraska and K-State, yes. Texass, not so much. I'll never defend the fuskers or K-state's weak ass scheduling (although K-State DID schedule USC a couple years ago). Texass does what everybody around here wishes we would do, which is 1-2 patsies, a middle of the road club, and a upper tier BCS team.

I don't know, sack. I just looked up their schedules going back to '05. This past year featured 4 non-BCS patsies. Embarassing. Not even middle-of-the-road squads. I'll concede Ohio State being a marquee series, but that seems like the anamoly and it was already 5 years ago! Arkansas is no longer top-tier, which is evidenced by the lop-sided UT beatdowns. The rest is filled in with Rice's, UTEP's and Sam Houston State's. Terrible.

That is one sorry state of non-conference scheduling, especially when compared to the USC's, Ohio State's and Oklahoma's of the college football world.

Or hell, even compared to CU, UT's scheduling is bad. At least we've ponied up against FSU, WV, Cal, Georgia in the past few years. If UT chases national titles, they should play like it.

CU needs to play those teams to get any sort of recognition or payday, Texas does not. If they win all their games, they will be in the BCS regardless who they play non-con.

Did you consider that CU is the patsy non-con game on the schedule for Georgia, Cal, FSU, WVU, etc? It sucks.

Not only does Texas play patsies OOC, they rarely leave the state of Texas to do it (last year's trip to Wyo was a scheduling cancel/fill-in game....not by design). a roadie to Rice (if it happened) is a UT home game de facto. I have a couple UT buddies who live in El Paso and UT travels to UTEP and it's like the Beatles, U2, George Washington, and Scarlett Johanson coming to town all for one show. I think they will change things up some after being computer SOS'ed out of the Big XII championship game in 08 or whenever. Not a lot, but some. the UT "vibe" seems to be slaughtering someone at DKR makes for the optimal experience rather than a matchup with someone decent. Horns love a 55-6 route more than a 34-22 type game with a BCS team. they do play UCLA this year...which may be part of the change in attitude i mentioned.

If you can draw 101,000 fans why should you ever leave your home stadium. Financially, it would be stupid. That is why Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma, etc can schedule most of their OOC games at home - they can afford to pay a big fee to someone to come in and get beat up. Premier teams will only do a home and home at best with opponents. I don't blame those teams for being smart in their scheduling.

More and more, the scheduling done by UT, NU etc is making sense. Those schedules are giving those schools the best scenario to maximize their season potential. Go undefeated in the Big 12/Pac 10 and you are probably playing for the NC. Colorado can't bring in the revenue those other schools can, but start winning more games, and you will subsequently start getting more butts in the seats. People like to watch a winner. CU's brutal OOC schedules are starting to make me feel like Colorado is pounding at the concrete over and over hoping to break through when they should be using a jackhammer instead. I'm starting to warm a little to the CSU game in Denver because that guarantees Colorado basically 7 home games a year. Lets drop 1 of the 2 BCS teams we schedule every year on average to give ourselves a fighting chance...that and get a real coach.
