Is if the buffs somehow miraculously pull of 7 or 8+ wins. With all the negativity towards Hawkins, I bet more people will be pissed than happy.

I will be happy with 8+ wins. I will be pissed with 6 or 7 because it will probably be just good enough to keep Hakwins around. Hell, the way the administration has decided wins don't matter, a 4-5 win season with some close losses might be enough.

Win 7 games and fire Hawkins = happy. Win 8 games & do whatever you want with Hawkins = happy. Win 7 games and keep Hawkins = pissed.

Since the administration stopped giving a **** about wins, I have lowered my expectations. I will be happy with a winning record. When we get someone in here that cares again, I will once again raise them.

not me. i just don't think he's a very good coach and his staff isn't BCS caliber. i think there are some positives with DH but on the field success has not been one of them thus far. if he wins 7 or 8 with a top 30 recruiting class, i'd be happy to load up for next year and admit i was wrong to a degree (because i think 6 is the top end for wins this season). For Dan to really refute his critics including myself, we need to see it at least 2-3 years in a row.

i will say Dan was great at the kids camp this AM....he's great at that part of the job.

I'll be quite happy if the team wins 7+. But I've seen enough of Hawk. I am not convinced he can do it at this level. The more the team becomes his (i.e. most of the players are "his guys"), the more the team loses. 2-10, 6-7, 5-7, 3-9, the trend is pretty obvious. I'll be excited when CU has some new blood at the helm. Having said that, I don't believe there is much chance CU puts up 7+ wins this year. I'd love to be proven wrong, but realistically, I don't see it given this staff and how they "prepare" the team to play.

I was optimistic for the last four seasons and I was wrong. I'm far less optimistic now, and I'd be delighted to be wrong again. I don't have a lot of Hawk hate...I'm just tired of being excited and then hurt.

I do not hate Hawkins, if this team were to suddenly get it together and turn into a winner I would be very happy for me, the players, and for Hawkins. That said after 4 years of sub-standard coaching I don't see anything that tells me Hawkins can coach at this level and be a big-time winner.

I like others fear having a season that is just good enough to give the powers that be justification for keeping him around another couple of years to further drain the lifeblood out of the program.

Win big, turn the attitude and expectations around, go to a quality bowl and give us something to really build on and I am:smile::five:

Give us just enough to keep going with more of the same low expectations and below mediocrity and I am:cry::pissed:

Give us what I expect which is more of the same and a coaching change at the end of the year or before and I am  to Hawkins and welcoming the new start.

I agree with your post, however if CU didn't fire Hawk last year, I don't think they will. So, I will just sit back and watch crappy football with low expectations. Go to a bowl and a smile on my face!

I will watch crappy football, but I refuse to accept that losing seasons are the expectation. CU is better than that.

I do not think they fire Hawkins with another mediocre season. I want boom or bust, because 6 wins probably keeps him around.

I agree. By and large, I think his recruiting really hasn't been that shabby. There are some pretty good players on the roster. DH brought in some pretty talented guys who, for whatever reason, aren't on the roster anymore. That makes the failure to win all the more baffling. For my money there is plenty of talent on the roster. Maybe not MNC or CCG material, or maybe not enough of those caliber players to make that kind of run, but getting rolled by the likes of CSU, Toledo and ISU is pathetic.

Many thought he would be a PR boon, and for a while, I was one of them. I am sure DH is good at camps with kids and probably pretty good one on one or small groups. But when it got hot, the guy has been a walking media faux pas. Add to that the condescending, insulting tact he often takes with fans and you lose me. He's not all bad by any stretch. He just isn't up to the job. JMO.

Some folks said that Chuck Fairbanks was an OK guy, too. He still sucked as a football coach.

MB has set th bar so low, or should I say the bar has been set so low for him, that any kind of half assed excuse is apparently good enough to keep Hawk. You are probably right, 4 or more wins and we get more Hawk. Bowl game and we're definitely stuck with him. I'll be a Buff fan long after he's gone, just like I was before he brought Russet Potato grin to Boulder.

You are all setting yourself up again.

This happens almost every year.

CU fans have expectations which do not at all meet reality. When the season ended, few people would have predicted the Buffs to win 7 games, let alone 8 games, in 2010. Yet here we are, June 2, and some people are talking about the Buffs winning 8 games.

This coach has won ONE (1) game on the road in the past four (4) years, and people are talking about 8 games as though that number is actually somehow possible.

Save yourselves the pain and torture of watching this coaching staff AGAIN produce a sub-stellar product. Enjoy the games for what they are -- GAMES -- and forget about wins and losses. It is just as likely, if not much moreso, that this team will win THREE (3) games in 2010, as they will win eight (8) games.

I didn't say I am expecting 8 wins, I don't think anybody else did either

I want him gone regardless. If he wins 8 games next year it is a fluke. The past four years are what to expect from Hawk.

Holy straw man, Batman! Who said they expected 7-8 wins? I know I didn't, and I didn't see anyone else do it either. I said 8+ would make me happy. I do not think there is a chance in hell of Hawk getting there. As I have said, my fear is that he wins 5-6 with some tough losses included and it buys him another year.

the whole issue I have is the general wet blanket on the passion for Buffs football. Lowered expectations should be a funny skit on Mad tv reruns, not a plan for a BCS football program.

I hope Hawk proves us all wrong and goes out and kills it and becomes a CU legend

If if ands and buts were snickers with nuts, we wouldn't worry about not going anywhere.

Someone peed in the koolaid this year, and it's NOT the internet's fault.

You know, I would still rather every single year to believe in my buffs and think we are going to win

and be disappointed,

than to expect the worst and say "I told you so."

That's a very real possibility, "hey we are moving in the right direction, and we just need to fix some little things". Awesome!
