It's time to go on the offensive RIGHT NOW. Get in front of the media and start talking. Stop this bull**** from Baylor about being superior academically and athletically. It's all bull****, and we need people out there calling them out on it.

Colorado is top 20 all-time in wins and winning %. Colorado is ranked higher academically than Baylor (per US News and World Report and every other source I can find). Colorado has had a national champion and a Heisman winner. Colorado has #16 TV market to itself. Boulder is one of the great college towns in America (especially compared to Waco).

This should be a no-brainer. No one on the planet is better equipped for this moment from CU's side than Dave Plati. Dude writes 15,000 page annuals on CU. Now it's time to turn his wrath to Baylor and selling the hell out of CU...and Bohn can be screaming beside him.

You know, their emails are easy to look up if you really want to reach someone today.
Plati works 24/7 so you might just reach him sooner than you think.

You are right.. I think most of us recognize the importance of not losing this fight to Baylor. This is huge for the future of the university, not just the athletic program but academically. If we are left in the same category as ISU and KSU, this will be a horrible result.

even during our time wandering in the desert since "the scandal" and with Hawk, I do notice that one of Baylor's bullet points *isn't* attendance.

If Tech and OSU are in the mix, i don't think BU gunning at CU on the academics angle is going to bring much ballast to their argument.

I emailed Bohn, Bruce, Dave and even Ritter. Already got a quick reply from Bohn, just saying thank and I understand your point. One question I have, is if the state of Tejas wants Baylor in so bad how come nobody has mentioned OSU as being a possible reject option? Not sure why they should be a shoe in, especially over Colorado. Come on Nebraska! Accept that Big 10 invite and put all the marbles in the Pac 10's court.

I did see in an article that the Pac-10 decision-makers are debating the academic credentials of OSU and Tech.....

come on! that is simple. OU and OSU are just as joined at the hip as UT and aTm. you think T. Boone Pickens is going to be pumped about OSU joining the MAC or the MWC if OU leaves them in the dust after all the money he pumped into that program? OSU will go where ever OU goes. i cant imagine that not being a package deal.

that is chewbacca talk.

You guys need to settle down.. The Pac 10 isn't going to invite a bunch of Baptists to their league.. This is all a Baylor PR campaign to drum up support.. CU will get in over Baylor when its all said and done..

This.

Baylor needs support from all 10 schools in the Pac 10... not going to happen.

Not only this, but the more I'm starting to think calmly about it the more I'm wondering if Baylor can even possibly drum up enough support in the Texas legislature to do anything official. Just because a few people have come out in support of Baylor doesn't really mean a lot. It is seeming more and more like a small dog yapping really loudly, but with no real bite. With a Texas governor who's alma mater isn't even that fond of this move, I'm thinking this may be a moot point if there isn't any substantial support. Plus another reason I think the Pac 10 says no way to Baylor is that Baylor is simply not capable of being competitive in a super conference, they were NEVER once competitive in the Big 12 while Colorado was winning several division titles and a conference title over Texas no less. Baylor, simply doesn't make any sense.

I get the OSU being tied to OU argument, but it makes me wonder why is OU so attractive? Honestly, is OU/OSU a better "get" for the Pac 10 than Utah/BYU, or Utah/Kansas? OU is a great football program, but it doesn't seem they deliver much in the way or TV sets, and dumping them would allow the Pac 10 to ditch another UT lapdog.

it's still incredibly unnerving... given the events of the past year... how once we think something is done it blows up in our faces like an elmer fudd shotgun blast

To get UT, you need to take its 2 rivals. That means TAMU and OU. UT does not want to be in a position of having to schedule one or both every year in the non-con. Next domino is OU being joined to OSU. Shows how much juice UT has that a school it doesn't really care about may come in on its coat tails. Frankly, OSU bothers me more than TTU. At least Tech is committed to improving on the academic side.

That makes sense obviously Texas is the jewel the Pac 10 is after, but it's amazing to me that UT is so valuable that the Pac 10 is willing to swallow OU, OSU, TTech, aTm, and possibly Baylor over arguably more valuable media markets in Kansas, Utah, or BYU just to land UT. That's 4 (or 5 with Baylor) that probably wouldn't be in the coversation if they weren't bait for Texas.

well it would be a slam dunk if we had a relative healthy athletic program.. But since we don't we are going to be attacked.. CU needs to sell its positives to the Pac 10 Presidents.. I'm sure Bohn has been doing that.

How kewl would it be if CU fires Hawk as a sign of good faith to secure an invite?

It would be nice to see some news from somewhere other than Austin. And I mean from somebody other than Colorado spokesperson Kiszla.

Where are the Colorado legislators and mayor of Denver? What are the regents, Benson and DiStephano doing?

Silence is a sign of weakness and impotency.

The state of Colorado would stand to benefit mightily from being at the cross-roads of the expanded Pac16 based on it's central nuetral location. When does somebody in a position of influence stand up and make a stand?

Kiszla has never had CU's back. I'm not surprised he would try to derail our chances in some dumb article. I do admit though we do have issues in our athletic program that need to be cleaned up going forward. From what I've seen Bohn and definitely Talkins have not impressed me that we are getting any closer..

maybe its just public silence and they have already reached an agreement

Remember it will be up to Nebraska.. Nebraska decides it wants to stay in the Big 12, Texas isn't going to look to leave. There's 9 schools that want the Big 12 to continue.. Missouri and Nebraska are on the fence waiting for possible Big 10 invitations and Bohn I guess is waiting for a Pac 10 option (which I'm not really cool with since I believe we are better in the Big 12 than joining the Pac 10 with Utah and I don't think we can afford to pay the fee to get out of the league either if half of the Big 12 isn't coming with us)

The braintrust in Austin is sending quite a signal. In the past 24 hours, Baylor has come on strong to replace CU in the media, and the Big X finished their weekend summit by making no announcement about Nebraska nor Mizzou. That's a win for the camp that seeks to keep the B12 together.

If they have this much sway with the Pac10 on the Baylor powerplay, then they might just hold some influence with the powers that be in the Big 10 who are responsible for the Nebraska offer. We've seen headlines about e-mail between Texas president Powers and Ohio State president Gordon Gee about the "Tech problem".

It's clear from this weekend's posturing that Texas has both the will and ability to make things happen.
