I'll pull the details together and link a profile in the Recruiting Forum. But that takes a bit of time and I didn't want to wait on the announcement.

Georgia Safety Makiri Pugh will transfer to CU and sit out this, his sophomore season. He will be eligible to play for the Buffs as a junior in 2011.

Pugh was a 3* prospect on Rivals, Scout and ESPN as a DB coming out of high school. He played sparingly for the Dawgs last season and left during the spring.

CU needed more depth and competition at Safety. Great move and great job by the staff on this one. Kudos probably most deserved for Ambrose, who is quickly distinguishing himself as a great recruiter for us.

wow, good news for a change. I'm going to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming..

Pinch.. Okay, not dreaming.

Good news, and glad to have him. Hope he brings his lunchbox (and his Georgia playbook, for that matter... :smile2:)

Great! Welcome! Ummmm, if UGA has a weakness, as a team...what would you say it is--I mean for the sake of conversation and all...

EDIT: Great comment on that article. It was very generous of Coach Richt to grant him an unconditional release, it would be prudent of Mr. Pugh to take the high road. But welcome!

If I'm not mistaken, his high school is legendary in North Carolina. I believe that is where Chris Leak went and they were undefeated for like 10 years in a row.

Always good to get a player who is used to winning.

so he sits out a year and then plays in 2011. too bad we play the dogs this year.

I almost marked this threat as "Off Topic" since it's so hard to care about anything but the expansion issue right now.

But I decided that a new Buff football player is always On Topic no matter what else is going on.

If we were playing Georgia after next year he probably wouldn't have gotten the release. It is fairly common that schools do not release a player to a school where that player could come back and play against them.

That said if he's good enough to get recruited by the schools on his list then he obviously had talent coming out of HS. Lets get him in, make him comfortable and watch him perform on the field for us.

anyone had a clue how to pronounce this dude's last name? Pew? Pug? no good options

edit: apologies...WELCOME MR. PUGH!
