The Pacific 10 Conference will be no more.

Soon, it will have 16 members -- or at least 12.

With Nebraska reportedly headed to the Big Ten Conference, the Pac-10 is poised to extend offers to six current Big 12 Conference members, ramping up its numbers to 16.

Pac-10 Conference officials declined to talk about the deal on the record because of the sensitive nature of negotiations, but one with knowledge of the plan said, “It’s locked and loaded.

Joining the Pac-10 in 2012 would be Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Colorado.
The new Pac-16 would divide into divisions, with the original Pac-8 schools aligned in one division and Arizona and Arizona State joining the six Big 12 schools in the other division.

Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott said last week that the league was working on possibilities that could be revolutionary.

Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds reportedly told his coaches Wednesday that the Big 12 was breaking up and the Longhorns were likely headed to the Pac-10.

Even if Texas and others decide to stay in the Big 12, the Pac-10 would still make a move to expand by two schools, sources said, with Colorado being the No. 1 target.

PLEASE let this be true!!!! I've got a feeling it just may be...BFans is reporting the meeting between UT and aTm tomorrow is about still trying to save the B12. Tuberville reportedly just tweeted "Don't believe everything you hear"

anyone who thought CU was a tag-along, also-ran, and coat-tail rider:

It's been so long since I've seen "Colorado is the number one ..." anything, that I'm almost speechless.

Please, please, please let this be true. Just say no UT. Just say no.

:sorry: Yeah, I pulled that in from something else over on that board, not Tuberville.

Getting a little confused after the multiple beers I've had in celebration of UT being shown the finger by us "weaklings" in the B12 North!:lol::finger:

No tweets from Hawk.. Frickin clown.. Can't wait until he's ****ing gone.

Eh, I started a thread about CU´s lack of activity on social networks quite a bit ago. It´s sad when you compare it to what other schools are doing.

No tweets from Hawk.. Frickin clown.. Can't wait until he's ****ing gone.

Off topic, he got bitchslapped pretty hard by a lot of the twitter sports people yesterday for banning people. I guess he banned CollegeFootballTalk.com. Turned into a running joke for about an hour.

This can't be true. Chip said that CU is the 6th team in.
I think in a sense he's right. If the Pac takes two teams we'd be the first choice.

However, a six team package would be headed by OU and Texas, both bigger targets than we are. But OU must be accompanied by OSU and Texas brings aTm and Tech, so in that regard we'd be sixth by default. Just sayin'

That is how I read it

I am still hoping the Pac starts by offering CU and Utah firmly, and then after they accept they offer UT, A&M, OU, and KU with an all 4 or none condition. The Pac holds the cards here and I think Texas is figuring this out now.

With any luck they will just expand with us and Utah and call it a day. Maybe Texas will go start their own Texas conference instead to save face.

Also - I think the Pac10 has told Texas "No Baylor, we want CU". There are now a lot of rumblings of UT and TAM meeting in AUstin to 'save the B12'.

Buffs sound like they're gone regardless. So, perhaps the Big12 survives without CU and kNU? Who would they replace us and kNU with?

Air Force and BYU.

no, I think they'll add two southern teams and kick OU and OSU to the North. If I was OU, I would want out of that scenario..

I don´t give a **** what happens to UT´s kingdom as long as we´re outta here!

me too. but i read OU and ATM boards earlier this week, and the OU fans didn't seem real keen on moving anywhere....which i thought was odd. same with ATM. i guess they all just want to drive up and down I-35 for the rest of eternity.

TCU and who cares!

What is best for CU is just going to the Pac with Utah only. All our games would go west then and we wouldnt have to worry about playing championship games in Texas every year. Scedule the old Big12/8 teams in OOC games if we want to keep the relationship going but getting away from them in conference is by far the best thing that can happen here.

The thing I don't like is the "two division" thing. The reason I've always wanted to go to the Pac 10 is to play the west coast schools. Now, under this scenario, we will only play one, maybe two a year. I liked the "pod" idea a lot better.

Good, that's more than enough.

Outside of USC the rest of the Pac 10 is a slightly hardcore version of the MWC. No better, other than location, than the have nots of the Big 12. If you had brass tacks you'd figure out a way to join the SEC.

If I were the SEC I'd strike now and steal the Texas and Oklahoma schools from the Pac 10 before they knew what hit them.
