If Texas doesn't head west....

...what does this do to CU's Texas recruiting? Also what happens in-state with all of the top talent heading to the Pac? Will they stay home now? Thoughts?

Have we recruited down there that well recently? Hugh Charles is the last major contributor I can think of from there.

Give me Cali and I'll call it a day.

Honestly, I wish we would make more of an effort with Texas. Even the Ducks and Beavers find guys down there, and after watching them play last year, I couldn't believe how much speed both those teams had.

We will not get the players who want to come to CU because the Texas schools didn't offer and they still want to play road games in their home state. We will get the guys who are sold on Boulder and excited about the prospect of playing games in Cali. I'd imagine there are a few of those. Like Tim said, regardless of where the players we recruit come from, the difference we'll see will come with the coaching. Should make us a more attractive target for recruits from anywhere.

I think many are missing a very important consideration. If Texas does not head West - CU's $20 million annual payout also goes out the window with it. In fact, my guess is CU athletics would lose money in that scenerio. The Pac-10 was not nearly the revenue generating conference that the Big12 was. I can't imagine a scenerio in which CU would increase its athletic funds by being added to a 12 team PAC with only Utah.

Disagree - the new Pac 10 deal can't possibly be worse than the current Big 12 deal, no matter who goes with us. Think Indiana/Northwestern/Purdue getting $22M from Big 10...

I disagree. A PAC 12 TV deal will be worth more $$$ than a Big 12 TV deal, though likely we'll never know for sure. Every conference is looking to get its own cable channel like the Big10 and the PAC 12 would simply have more TVs than the Big 12.

With Texas 20-22 million without 14 million is what I saw somewhere yesterday.

Start poaching USC now... there will be an exodus of Trojans

Used Trojans...

This should be a huge boost to California recruiting (our main recruiting ground). If the Texass schools come along, I don't see it helping us down there. It makes competing with the Pac schools down there tougher. If they go elsewhere, it will hurt it for sure.

Texas is cruching #ers and has been the past few days. Right now they get to keep a ton of their money and control the Big12. If they come to the PAC, they will have to share a lot more and lose alot of the power they had in controlling a conference.

I would think they can make at least the same by staying in the B12 and adding a TCU and BYU rather than moving to the PAC where the money for UT would be a wash compared to the B12. THe catch is if they stay in the B12, they get to keep the power and make it a more Texas based conference with the addition of TCU and maybe even another Texas school.

Now tell me which one the Texas government would prefer.
