Larry Scott: "An 11-Team Conference is a Possibility"

I'm guessing he's intentionally being conservative, but in the teleconference this afternoon Larry Scott said that Pac 10 will not necessarily pluck other Big 12 schools besides Colorado. He added "There is no defined timeteable" for further Pac-10 expansion.

Damn, this is KILLING my productivity at work.

I really think the Pac got a taste of Texas shenannigans and decided it didn't like it. Don't be shocked to see Utah come back into the picture and we end up with a 12 team conference. That is looking more and more like a possibility all the time to me.

Isn't it odd how popular Utah has become around these parts? I mean I'm drinking the kool-aid too.

But methinks that some Pac 10 schools don't carry the Utes in such high esteem.

Utah or KU. The more I keep hearing about us being rid of the tejass conglomerate the happier I get.

but would K-State have to tag along?

Who the eff cares? Honestly, KU is in a fight for it's athletic life here. What the hell do they care about KSU at this point? Did CSU have to come along with CU? No. So why on earth should the situation be any different in Kansas?

Think of it this way: CU's presser for the Pac-10 is on June 11, 2010. 11 for Pac-11.

Now let's see if 11 also means CU in the Pac-11 in 2011 not 2012.

Major difference is that CSU is in an entirely different conference than the Buffs, and essentially always has been.

Whereas KU/KSU, OU/OSU, UT/A&M/Tech have been attached at the hip in a conference sense forever.

Why do people like Utah going to the PAC-10? it seems like a no excitement school, what is the draw?

Utah has much better facilities than we do (thanks to Winter Olympics in 02 there) and they have been good in the last 7 years.

Utah would be a solid fit in the Pac 10. We would have a partner neighboring us too.

Abs, I suspect most of these quotes are from the audio recording of the Pac 10/CU joint teleconference this morning. Adam at Rivals posted a link for subscribers.

Does that mean we keep Dan Hawkins for the rest of his life?

JoePa (without looking anything up, so just I think) has never had a 3-9 season, or 4 losing seasons in a row, or etc, etc.

Used to be an old rival of Colorado, they are also in the mountains and closer to us than any other Pac school. It would hopefully also mean the exclusion of Texas and others, which is awesome because **** Texas.

If the Pac-10 only adds CU, this retains some of thier luster and there would be 10 conference games. CU has a longtime reputation of not playing creampuff teams.

I find it hard to believe they would go through all this trouble and at least not take 12 for a championship game

If Larry Scott fails at getting Texas to the PAC-10 and they end up in the Big-10. Those California presidents are going to hang that guy.

Hopefully this is all taken care of by the time i start my new job next week
