CU Admissions taking care of business. Yeah, Simmons & Jefferson!

Toney Clemmons finding a new place to play ball.

Nick Kasa realizing there's no place like home (before it was too late.)

Darrell Scott for being his own man.

Polk coming back healthy and for this quote as a recruit, "I am excited and I can't wait to get up there and do what I can to help Colorado make a run at a national championship."

Parker Orms for his infectious enthusiasm. "Once they offered, I committed," Orms said. "I always wanted to play for the Buffs; all I needed was the offer."

Hawkins for setting the bar high and asking/demanding/believing his guys can exceed all expectations. For not settling for less.

Former Ralphie handler and new Buff Tyler Sale, because I think his story is awesome. And everybody should get a happy ending.

Clark Evans because ... no explanation needed. If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Tyler Hansen and Cody Hawkins for staying classy and working hard.

Whoever put together that cool interactive video where I got Hawkins to call my mother (even though she let it go to voice mail.) If you missed, it watch now. And for Hawk's sake, answer the phone!

Jason Espinoza --- heck yeah! I love this guy.

Rodney Stewart, selected as CU's Male Freshman Athlete of the Year for all sports last year.

Pitman, for pushing these guys to the limit.

For the guys for willing themselves to get better every day.

I know I left a million things out.

I'm just so giddy excited for practice to start, I can barely stand it.
Started thinking about all the things to make this year (and next for sure) incredible ... there you go, it's a start.

West and Webb for showing us the frosh are excited, too.

Big Rep AJ. Very nice.

Thankful some intriguing kids are starting to show up as walk-ons. I think this is always a good sign.

Nice work! TO: Tyler Sale, Jason Espinoza, David Clark, Goldberg Trace Adams and all the other Colorado HS walk-ons-----Keep on, keepin' on! All great stories!

Where else in the entire country do you have TWO walk-ons from Aspen and TWO from Steamboat Springs ???

Or have two guys from JC who chose to work their butts off academically to get admitted, rather than take the easy way onto the field---can you hear me, Bill Snyder?---

Foundation's been laid...Time to get it on! On the grid iron that is!

1. It's Saturday.
2. You are a buff fan!

Let's get pumped.

Notice at 1:27 the Ralphie Handlers? One of them has to be Tyler Sale, first Ralphie Handler to become a football player.

Ten months later, (and a dose of reality) I'm ready to get pumped again.

I'm thankful the PAC10 invited CU to join the party, and thrilled our regents accepted promptly.

I'm thankful for some semblance of awareness among the CU leadership that they needed to act and act quickly to not be left behind, and that perhaps there is an interest among the current leadership in being relevant again in CFB and that there is a will towards that end that may motivate to invest and focus more on athletics. Perhaps, that is.

God I hope we have started to turn the corner. This is a great first step but we need to see more over this next year to prove our admin gets it. I really want to believe (and that vid fires me up), I really do. I just need to see how this unfolds before I can fully say we are on the right road.

Question: Will being in the Pac make it more likely or less likely that we relax our academic standards such as adding programs more conducive to certain athletes haveing success in? How about admissions? Are we now going to have the philosophy that, since we are in a conference with the likes of Stanford, that we should maintain a high level of expectation? I've heard, for instance, that Cal, even though the university has a high academic reputation, nevertheless relaxes those standards substantially for athletes whereas CU maintains the same standards for athletes as it does for the general student population. Thats what I've heard, but I do not know if it is true.

Interesting idea... now that we are in the Pac11, maybe the academic prestige will allow us to be less strict academically?

Great question DBT.

DBT, that is a great question and one we will need to have answered the same way it should have been answered the last 5 years. Here is to hoping that the CU Admin is getting back on board with wanting a winner. This is one of those have to haves just like having the right coaching staff. It is all going to be part of convincing the next HC that we are in it to win over the long haul. If not, we will be destined to play at the low end of the conference, not matter what conference we are in. We as a University as a whole need to be in it to win, not cheat or win at all costs. But do the right things we need to do to win. Getting into the Pac is step one of 12 step program to winning.
