I heard something a while back he would be interested in getting back into coaching. He is bitter towards Oregon, and would be a great coach to lead us into the Pac 10.

Anybody want to see us go after him?

Really? I always thought highly of him as a coach. Not that I ever followed the Ducks all that closely, but it seemed to me that he built on what Rich Brooks did and took it to a new level. That's not the case or is there something else you don't like with him?

IMO the talent he had at UO was comparable to just about any major program out there. And what does he have to show for it? A Fiesta Bowl trophy?

Pretty sure Oregon was not a thug program until Chip Kelly took over. USC was pretty good the last decade or so, so him not having much to show for it doesn't seem like that big of a problem to me. Was their recruiting really that good? I thought they were a perennial top 25 recruiting type school, but not a USC/Florida/ND/OSU/Texas type. We'd be lucky to get the guy imo.

I think he is at least worth an interview. The thing about a guy like Bellotti is that he is a big name and can attract assistants. A decade with much success at a prominent Pac-10 schools brings a lot of credibility. The next coordinator hires are going to be just as important as the head coaching hire.

I think now that we are for sure headed to the PAC he would be a good option and definitely worth an interview for all the reasons mentioned above. Honestly though, I don't think we will be able to afford him. I'm worried about the state of our program unless some of these so called "big donors" come through with some cash after this season. Its great that we are still making a profit unlike so many schools, but we are just barely treading water right now and can't afford many more big hits. I don't see how the hell we are supposed to ride the 50-80% revenue drop and buy out a coach??? From the recent article in the Post and Camera it sounds like the Pac is only half ass trying to help us out with the hit we will take with the forgone revenue. I hope our AD knows something we don't.

and the Shanahans as his assistants?????

Chip Kelly wasn't the one who recruited these players to Oregon. Masoli, for example, had been arrested for ROBBERY in high school, yet Bellotti was quick to sign him.

Dirty recruiter, and shady person all around in my opinion.

Mac signed some shady kids.

I would take him. However would he stay after having some success? In a perfect world I would like someone to stick around for a while.

This is me asking a true question, isn't it a lot easier to get football kids into Oregon than CU? I thought they took more chances on kids with questionable academics and character. If that is the case I am not sure we could get Mike B to come here since he would not have that luxury.

50-80% TV rev share drop not total revenue vs total revenue it is more like 10% a year.

not a huge retread fan....%'s are not that high on the "second time around". Belotti might be OK, I can live without the next CU coach (if it needs to be) being the kind of guy who talks about the last place where we was a big winner. had enough of that. my response to a Belotti hire would be a mixed "so so".

Well he seemed to be able to keep them in line at least. And lets not act like we're not all pretty excited about Richardson being here.. people do stupid ****. As long as the coach punishes them when they do stupid ****, I'm ok with giving them another chance.

He's not my favorite candidate, he's a little on the old side and he was never able to take down USC, but I'd love to see him on the sidelines asking for contract extensions instead of Hawk.

I don't care if Coach Belloti brought in players with checkered pasts. College sports have offered many kids a second chance at citizenship. I do care that they behaved on his watch. Coach Mac had a pretty good record with making troubled kids behave.

If anything, I believe that the problems U of O experienced in Coach Kelly's first year were a testiment to Coach Belloti's leadership. He didn't encounter similar problems with the same players.

Honestly, I'd never heard a bad thing about the man, so I was really curious where Mania formed his opinion.

You sound very "Starship Troopers"-ish right there.

Don't know - just remember it for the over-the-top bug and chopped up human gore and that shower scene where the dudes and chicks were all showering together. Dina Meyer (Diz) had a great rack if I remember right. Sucks that Denise Richards didn't get nekkid, but she made up for it with Neve Campbell in Wild Things.

Oh "Nazis" - yeah, those uniforms were pretty close weren't they?
