His tweet:

How he opens:

The headline of this post is a legitimate question, and I recently asked it of fourth-year junior offfensive lineman Ryan Miller.

Hidden at the END of the blog post:
“I’ve got two more seasons here,” he said. “It would be great to play two more.”
Not even ****ing smoke.

What a prick. He chose that title just for a click. I know I know. In other news, the sun rises in the east right? Still, pisses me off to pull that ****.

Typical.

Maybe some good will come out of it and we'll get some national pub.

On the topic of juniors leaving early, the guy the coaches are most worried could leave is Toney Clemons. Supposedly, he's that good.

that woudl suck, but if he performs good enough to do that, I might be consoled.

That was pretty much my response when a guy on staff told me this: "Be a nice problem to have."

 As long as Alec Burks doesn't leave early, I'll be ok. :wink2:

I think a lockout that would keep him from getting paid next year is about the only way Alec's coming back. But that lockout thing is a very real possibility. :wink2:

Along these lines, how many people realized the crap stirred up today about Hawkins and the requested extension was from a two-month old comment made in a (private) staff meeting?

Yeah, I thought so.

Sensationalist is about right.

Two months does not change anything about that comment. Sure, I am guessing Hawkins does not make that comment if he knows it gets leaked to the press, but it shows the egomaniac that Dan Hawkins is and always has been. I'm sorry for his defenders, but there is no real good spin for those comments, private or not.

As I said, the quote showed a guy who is unrealistic and egocentric. Not a combination that's going to make a lot of friends among fans, co-workers or peers. But it's not something that would necessarily keep him from being successful, either.

Back on the topic, I think ringo makes poor decision when it comes to publishing stories. He seems to favor stories that will ruffle feathers rather then report on the team and its players (why publish a story about Hawk asking for an extension last summer two weeks before our first game? Are you serious?). His connection to the scout website also raises questions. Who is he to decide what readers should have to pay for to read? I feel like the Daily Camera is in an interesting ethical situation when it comes to his reporting. He is possibly taking readers away from his own employer. Should that be acceptable in a feasible business model for a semi-major newspaper? I feel that Kensler at the post is a more reliable and less bent on producing sensational news stories as opposed to good reporting. Just some food for thought....

Well, if the topic is what passes for journalism these days doing just about anything to get attention and remain relevant, I guess you'd have to say Ringo is doing his job.

How many allbuffers would have seen that had Leash not reposted it here? Not many I assume. How many allbuffers find their way to the DP or the Buffzone through allbuffs, rather than going there directly? Practically all, I assume.

As much as most of you guys are ****ing idots (insert smiley face), everyone knows the real news breaks here.

Hopefully no one here confuses Ringo with journalism. I check Buffzone directly fairly often, DP not so much.

i can't remember where, but i saw at least one and maybe two articles/blogs mentioning the possibility that the Buffs would be without Solder and Miller next year...i remember because i thought..."he's not a senior"....so, while those reports don't have an actual "i'll be back next year" quote from RM....i don't think the speculation is so left field.

in fact Ringo provides the definitive answer (for now) that he'll be back.

much ado over....

And that's my point.

Wow.
Talk about a bunch of fan boys. It's journalism. Ringo isn't supposed to cheer for the team. He's supposed to do his job and cover them. The Ryan Miller situation is of certain interest. I've wondered what he's been thinking about the NFL. Now I know.
As for the Hawkins situation, when did you want him to run it? It's newsworthy and timely. Step back from being a fan and realize the guy is doing his job, and in my opinion he does it well.
He's not trying to sell papers. Anybody that knows the journalism industry, knows how bad it is right now. Hawkins asking for an extension at this juncture, is newsworthy and head scratching.
So report it.

I would love it if we had an entire team of players that had the ability to go NFL prior to graduation. I hope that guys like Miller, Clemmons an others have monster years and can make it happen.

I miss the old days when the national debate was should Salaam win the Heisman, or which Buff WR, LB, DB or lineman was better than whomever from another school and who should get drafted first.

I think the issue was that the BDC had been sitting on the Hawkins' extension story for a while.

If nothing else, this answers the question regarding Ringo's username on Allbuffs.

Or if he wasn't sitting on it, Ringo did zero thinking about why someone would leak to him precisely now, two months later than it was said, and two weeks before the CSU game. There was "another side to the story" that never crossed his mind. Fascinating that we have a deep throat among head coaches... and sort of weird.
