Media making big deal out of Brad Jones

Personally I don't think its a big deal. He's a former player, not a current player saying that. It's just like any of us talking **** about csu. I'm sure Fairchild and the rammies are very offended though and it's already on everybodies locker.

So you gonna tell us what he said?

"CSU is like if you`re standing on a hill playing king of the hill and
you have like these other little kids in fourth grade running up the
hill trying to knock you off the hill. And you`re just hitting them
off with one hand. Just laughing," former CU and current Green Bay
Packers linebacker Brad Jones said in an interview with the mtn.
television network. "The CU-CSU game is like the warm-up game. You
play it the first game of the year ... they call it a rivalry so you
can get your blood pumped up for the rest of the season. That`s it. I
don`t even know the names of any of the guys on the CSU side, I
couldn`t tell you one name except for (Bradlee) Van Pelt.

"You`ve got to think about it like this: It`s Colorado versus Colorado
State. The Colorado vs. Colorado State. It`s not called Colorado State
and the University of Colorado. You come to the game to watch the
kings, that`s it. You want to come to watch the kings, you don`t want
to come watch the court jester."

CU=bad, arrogant; CSU=good, wholesome.

a tried and true Denver sports media trope. Barnett, mean; Sonny, wonderful.....redux.

I think if Van Pelt or Sperry came out and something offensive, I think we'd be in a huff, too

csu, who looks for every reason to get amped for us. Like I said I don't think it's a big deal, but I'm sure CSU does.

Well...I guess my point is, who gives a rat's ass if the lammies get fired up over this? We should kick their ass up one side of the field and down the other....

man, they have a one game season. this is reaching as BB material but they will use it. its not a big deal. he will not be on the field but, they will absolutly use it as motivation. its a comment about the program as a whole. those kids are a part of the program and will want him to eat his words. however, the fact is, even if the ewes win, he will still be right and there is nothing the can do about that.

Speaking of Van Pelt, I haven't heard of him for years. He was on csu's sideline several years after he was done there, wearing a cape wasn't he?
he revealed he actually had AIDS here is a photo from his treatment

If we were relevant, maybe this would be picked up nationally.

I don't really mind the comments, but why give them any bulletin board material this year? They were the ones who danced on our field last year.

The Denver media calendar says it's time to stir the pot and work the locals up into a lather.

If the current coaches and players aren't going take the bait and play along, then start marching out quotes from former players who played under former administrations.

The creativity in the marketing campaign is astounding.

I guess I am in the minority, but Jones did not come off all that well in that interview. It sounded like he was trying a bit too hard to convince himself of something.

I don't think any present or former Buff can provide motivation the the rammies that comes close to the motivation our guys should get watching the video of the rammies stomping on our logo at Folsom.

I hope more players come out in the media talking up some good CU smack. All it does it put more pressure on Hawk to win. May even make his job a little tougher as the other team might actually take some offense to it. Bring it RAM bitches! Either way it is good for CU, if we win great, if not, then Dan is one step closer to the moving truck.
