Yet Another CU Uniform Question

If I remember correctly isn't CU not going to put names on the back of their jerseys this year in order to give the impression it's all about 'team' ?

If true I don't like it.

I thought it was to try and convince us that this team is just like the 1990 team.

That's what Hawk said over the summer.

Supposedly it was an idea that came from the players.

My take is that if it will help even a tiny bit to reinforce the unity & teamwork message, then give it a try. But my observation is that taking the names off the jerseys doesn't do a thing beyond making it more difficult for fans and game announcers.

I think they should just use barcodes on the back of the jerseys.

You say this in jest, but I wouldn't be surprised if at some point we don't have this, with a link to the scoreboard that shows exactly who is in the game at any one time.

It's called a roster, the numbers are big, look at number then look at roster. And you dont have to get a program to get a roster. They hand free rosters out usually. If your eyes are bad, you surely can't see the name on the back any better than the number. I don't think it's a big deal. Just another excuse for someone to whine about something.

I generally don't need an excuse to whine.

Just put the names on the jerseys, then hundreds of thousands of people (stadium and at home) don't have to look up who is who. It is a stupid ****ing gimmick to inspire the team to play like a team. Why not just ****ing do that anyway?

It's ****ing stupid and our players are ****ing stupid for choosing to do this. I've told this to some of them.

I'd be more concerned if why we are rotating O-linemen instead. I don't give a **** if they're wearing pink ballarina outfits out there as long as they are winning.

It would be less stupid rotating O-linemen if they had their names on their jerseys. I think...and I am concerned about that too. I don't care what they where as long as they win either, but taking the names off the jerseys does not help them win. It has no point.

don't like it- very fan 'unfriendly'
as I get older it gets harder to remember who is who on the field-

I think it's a ploy to make people spend $5 on a program :/

We can use the money - with ticket sales down.
Hawk is a monetary savant.

I'm okay with the absent names. It is a bit of a pain-in-the ass, but I like the concept. Good for them. If we're real fans we'll memorize the important numbers anyway.

You jackass! The point of no names is to say that every guy is just as important as the next! You're silly.

Great point! But some are more equal than others.

Maybe we should try to get the guys in the broadcasting booth on this, so they don't inadvertently call out someone's name after a great play.

I can remember how destructive it was to the team when the crowd yelled "Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Fannnnnigannnnnn!!!!" Tore those guys apart!

Hawk should get paid by the win...at 16-33, he'd be living in a van down by the river or a hotel room on colfax.

That all depends on how much he gets paid per win, doesn't it? If he's paid $100,000 or more, that's still pretty good for four years worth of work. Averages out to $400,000/Year. He'd get a pretty nice van for that.

See I was too young for that. I don't think they did name calling for games during my upbringing. I think it may have negatively affected my whole generation, but I'm not sure how because I didn't feel like reading that article.

What holding up the 1 finger for Ben Kelly?

edit: I've set this up pretty well...

I wouldn't be surprised if that was coming. I went to the Bronco's game last Sunday and sat in the section that had a lot of folks using Bronco employee tickets. I happened to be sitting next to a guy whose wife works for the team and another employee was showing him some new Fancast device that they are giving to all the club level and above season ticket holders. It was a little video device (think Sony PSP with maybe a bigger screen) that only works in the stadium. Apparently it allows people to access footage from any of the cameras in the stadium and view any of the other NFL games going on at the same time. It was a pretty cool concept actually and I can see how it would be a nice value add for your high end customers, particularly with the current fantasy football obsession.
