Got to henrys at 8, and have been to most places already. Currently at the bears lair. So far buff fans outnumber cal fans... Ppl from the south may complain about cu tailgating, but we rage compared to these soft west coasters .

hope you guys rage and bring the house down. need some good karma over there. it would be friggin awesome to come home with a victory, especially since no one (except us CU fans) is picking them to win.

sounds like a lot of fun. impressed so many AB'ers made the trip. can't really take long weekends during the semesters....but, shoulder to shoulder fellas.

Ah, not even in the league yet and already talking partying smack. Welcome to Berkeley, but rest assured that we DO know how to celebrate pre- and post-game. You just need to know how to go about it.

As Buff fans make more trips to Berkeley (and the Bay Area), you will learn that Cal has little or no traditional tailgating, because there is very little parking around the stadium itself, most being in covered donor lots.

You've been to Henry's which has overpriced food and drinks and is the traditional tourist trap for visiting fans. Most Cal fans avoid that place like the plague and, during the sc and stanfurd games. that place is clearly enemy territory. The Bears Lair? It's small and on campus -- 10-15 visiting fans could take that over with no problem.

A lot of fans actually choose to party in S.F., either the night before or on game days, for the later games, since it is only 15 minutes away by subway and then a 20 minute walk or short $1 shuttle ride to the stadium, but the on-campus experience is great, too.

Go to Faculty Glade in the middle of campus and have a picnic. Bring your own food and drinks or get it inside the restaurant in the Faculty Club, which is open to the public and the total opposite of stuffy. There are usually two bars operating and table service, both inside and out.

Or, head up to the area just north of the stadium, called the "Fun Zone" during game days, for beer and food. Both areas are great for kids with lots of room to run around.

If you like the bar/restaurant scene, there are several brew pubs on Shattuck Avenue a couple of blocks west of the campus. You have to take in Telegraph Avenue and there are several places there with reasonable prices. Try Blakes, Manny's Tap Room, or even the grungy Kip's for good pre-game atmosphere. I also like Looney's Barbeque on the southeast corner of campus.

There ARE lots for traditional tailgating, if you just have to have it, but you need to do some planning ahead.

Enjoy Berkeley -- best weather on earth!
