Hey guys,

Me and some of my friends are making the trip out to Boulder in a couple of weeks for the UGA-Colorado games. Could you guys give us any good recommendations on restaurants, bars, and just general things to do?

How old are you? How long are you staying? Are you capable of hiking?

You don't want to miss Tra Lings while in Boulder. It on The Hill between The Goose Bar and K's China. It has some of the best chinese food in the world.

All of us are 22 or 23. We're only going to be there from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. Not too sure if the girls I'm coming with are going to want to do any hiking.

Drop the girls off at my place and go hiking :smile2:.

Seriously tho. Do it. And go to pearl on friday early eve

Friday night, join the Buff players, band, and cheerleaders downtown on the Pearl Street Mall. Lots of places to eat/drink downtown or nearby. Saturday morning, take a drive up Boulder Canyon to Nederland and then over to Estes Park for a quick in-and-out at Rocky Mountain National Park. Come back to Boulder through Lyons and then join a tailgate before the game. Hope you guys have a great time (other than the game, of course). Enjoy!!

The few bars that are still around but that I enjoyed - The Sink (located on The Hill - great pizza) & The Walrus (one block off Pearl Street) & Sundown Saloon (Pearl Street).

Do the Friday Night Pearl Street Stampede - it's all CU but it's cool & there will be people EVERYWHERE (including a lot of UGA fans). Also, I think the '90 National Championship team may be walking with them that night.

Pearl Street has a ton of restaurants - warning: some of them very high-end - so you'll easily be able to find something there food-wise. The stuff on The Hill is definitely geared more towards students & tends to be burrito/sandwich-type places so besides The Sink, I think Pearl is going to be your best bet.

I haven't been to 29th Street but there's a ton of restaurants (mostly chains) out there. If you are looking for the real Boulder experience, I'd pretty much stay on & around Pearl Street.

early mid 20's. Sink, Pearl St. Cellar, Sundowner, Mountain Sun (very "Boulder"). too much touristy **** in Boulder these days....

hangover Saturday rally breakfast, Santiago's or Village Coffee Shop 9get there early!). North Boulder/Broadway Cafe, if you be bold. Lucille's if you are a divorced dad looking to hear about your daughter's aura.

all visitors should go to the Sink.

Catacombs is a cool bar to play pool etc. Sink is a classic CU hang out on the Hill. St. Julien Hotel can get rocking at night on Sat. after games. West End on canyon has good burgers. Clarion Hotel near campus does an all day tailgate deal with Huge outdoor screens with all relevant college football games (everyone other than CU) going, food, beer garden, booze.

Walk Boulder creek. Pretty cool walk, not strenuous, plenty of woman to look at and easy to get to.

Got to go with the Buff for the hangover rally.

The Med on Pearl St has a great happy hour and good food. Walrus is definitely a bar to check out. Pretty much your classic college dive bar, but with air hockey and skee-ball in the back!

if time is short then drive up Baseline up Flagstaff Rd- great view of Boulder on one side & the Continental Divide on the other- takes about 10 min from Boulder

Seconding Catacombs. That place never gets enough love.

Also seconding Mountain Sun (not southern sun). That place has great food, exudes boulder, and has awesome beer.

You can't come to Boulder and not hike. Do Royal Arch or something. It's not that far and you'll get up by the flatirons.

Also, if you can get to Avery brewing when they have their tastings, I think it's worth heading over for free beer assuming they still do that.

There's more to do in Boulder than time will allow.

Daytime:
Check out the bike path on Boulder Creek. Consider renting a bike.
Cruz campus. Check out the stadium, UMC book store and surrounding campus.
Drive up to Chataqua Park at the base of the Flatirons and enjoy the outdoors.
Head down to Eldorado Canyon a few miles south of town and check out Boulder's rock climbing community.
Drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park and check out the fall foliage.

If booze is your thing, have a pizza and a pitcher or three at the Sink for lunch, and then park it later in the day at Old Chicago on pearl street. OC has a big beer selection and beer tour.

Go to the Bus Stop (Bust Op...the ol' brass pole ballet) and help some sweet young thing pay for college one dollar bill at a time.

Hit the Hill for a frat party.

There's all kinds of weird ethnic food in Boulder: Ethiopian (huh?), Tajikistani, Nepali.

Man v Food had a piece on a breakfast place called The Buff Restaurant. If weird **** doesn't suit your southern redneck arteries, you might like the gut busting Saddlebags, a pancake monstrosity with sausage, bacon, eggs all thrown together.

Google or YouTube any of these suggestions and pick a few.

Enjoy.

Boulder is totally boring. Nothing at all to do there. No good restaurants. No good bars. I'd avoid the place and stay in Arvada if I were you.

This coming from someone who chooses to live in Longmont. Puhlease. :puke:

Edit. Sarcasm detected. But I still take any chance to take a shot at Longmont. I hate that hellhole.

Boulder Canyon might not be too scenic these days I'm guessing from the fire? Could be wrong, the view is obstructed from where I sit.

bah, when I clicked reply your edit wasn't there, but it was in the quoted part before I hit post. Still applies
