This game was sloppy. The last two touchdowns were nothing more than sandlot football. Play that kind of game against a quality opponent (like Cal, for instance, or UGA) and we're going to get murdered. UH left 18 points on the field. This was not a quality win by any stretch of the imagination.

I concur.

And we still need better QB play. TH made some good throws today but not many.

183 yards rushing in the second half wasn't sand lot. I do agree on the not getting carried away though. However UGA does look very beatable now. 3-1 would be more than we could have hoped for. Having said that UGA will come in and crush CU. Just a feeling.

Agree, but let's at least enjoy the win, Hawk isn't going to have the miracle season, he won't be back, he will be our coach for the season. With that said, let's enjoy this once before the next steamer

I find myself not enjoying the win at all, because I know that the season will turn to **** very soon.

This is my sense as well. I think the coaches & players are going to look at this game as some kind of bizzarre vindication of what they've been doing for the last five years. They're going to come out against UGA and get the taste knocked out of their mouths, and all we'll hear is "we were surprised at their speed", or some such line of BS.

my guess will be strength... anyone care to start a poll of what will surprise us when we get our asses kicked?

I had to laugh at times during this one. Just seemed like a blooper reel out there. The ball flying out of Speedy's hands, fumbling the punt, snaps flying past each of our QBs, colliding with our own guys.

We were awful in the first half. That **** cannot happen. I can't remember the last time we have hit on all cylinders for a full game. That being said, we scored 31 in one half. And we held Hawaii, a pretty damned good offense, to 13 points. I like that.

Not in the least carried away. I have zero satisfaction out of this win. I was almost sad that Hawk lived to coach another day, but the kids deserved to feel good and they needed to win one for Alfred. The rest of the season will take care of itself.

"Zero satisfaction." Really? None? Not one bit? Not even happy that we scored 31 in just one half? Not even happy that we held Hawaii to just 13? Zero satisfaction in that?

Silver lining was that the OL got pissed in the second half on the first drive and finally started living up to their hype and dictated the game. Georgia showed they are not invincible and can be beat. 3-1 going into conf. play looks good and we'll see what happens.

Game was sloppy....but this team finally showed that they can play some pretty damn good football in the 2nd half...the kind of football that could beat a lot of teams if they could show up like that consistently...The good news is we have 2 weeks to see if we can get this team to play 4 quarters of football like that, which would make for a very good Georgia game.

The bad news is we have 2 weeks before Georgia & HaLk at the helm gameplanning/overthinking everything for that long

it is a win and i will enjoy it. i am happy for the kids and i am happy for AW.

Yes. It was good to see the players having fun on the sidelines again. We really needed this. Good crowd for AW, I am really proud of our fan support. Great job!

i noticed that. i was expecting a very sparse crowd but as near as i could tell on TV, it looked to be fairly full.

I was also surprised by the number in the stands. It was pretty full based on what has been put on the field. Combine that with $10 ticks that got you a youth Alfred jersey and they sold a few this last week. Nice crowd and the sun finally came out in the 4th.

At least we won the game before we head into the toughest stretch of the season. AW day deserved a win.

One thing I will say that sill mystifies me about this team is the patented slow starts. We put ourselves in a hole quite often.

Agree on the slow starts. We start like yesterday in most of the rest of our schedule and we get burried. We would not have had a chance to run because we would be fighting back from a 17-21 pt hole. We cannot play that way - we do not have a guy who can sling it 40 times a game and win. No way no how.

The offense played half a good game. The first half, Hawaii didn't stop them, they did it to themselves. Penalties, fumbles, bad snap. That stopped, for the most part, in the second half. They wore down the Hawaii defense -- the altitude probably helped. The defense, with the exception of the first play, was great the entire game.
The satisfying part is knowing they CAN do that. The frustrating part is trying to figure out why they do it so rarely. That's coaching.

I'm with sacky, I wasn't impressed. 2nd half was nice, but it was Hawaii. They're not a good team, they've been on the road all over the place recently and honestly we shouldn't have been in the game after the first half. They need to beat Georgia and I might get back on the bandwagon.

Well after sleeping on it, there is a little. Mainly because the players really needed this one and I've enjoyed reading that they can go into the bye week with a little spring in their step. As I said, this season will take care of itself. Hawk has to earn another year, and I don't think he will, or we get to move on.

This game was something to build on. Nothing more. Our defense pretty much shut down an offense that had its way with USC. Our offense finally seemed to develop a bit of an identity. We have to start putting complete games together. The sloppiness of the first half seemed to go away in the second half. That first drive of the second half was very well excecuted. We had a very good rythm on that drive and for most of the second half.

CU is the only sports team that is truly under my skin. There are good wins, bad wins, good losses, and bad losses, but ultimately a win is a win. Despite my feelings for the Coach/AD, I will bask in the aftermath of this win for the next 2 weeks. If i've learned anything over the last 5 years its to enjoy these fleeting moments.

I hope the coaches reward B-Lock for his hard running this week with more carries vs UGA. As much as I enjoy seeing Speedy run the ball, I'd like to see him stay healthy for an entire season.

When the Buffs win, all is right in the world. ;)

Sacky Downer.
Sheesh.

Run the goddamned mother****ing ball!!! Granted it was Hawaii but even with Cal, I saw OL opening lanes all day. If we minimize mistakes on the offense, defense is above average to carry the team. I know it'll be a big let down for all of us against GA but with the right coaching staff, this team is easily capable of winning at least 8 games.

We played a team from sea level who has been sleeping in hotels for the past 2 weeks. They hit the physical wall, greatly helped by the altitude, and were largely spent in the second half. There were some huge holes in the second half, but I'm inclined to believe they were due as much to exhaustion as execution. Technique is still lacking on the O-line.
