Dan Hawkins will save his job this week IMO...

dallasga - you're sounding much too much like Dr. Lou back in the nineties. You guys will absolutely dismantle us on our home field. The unfortunate part is, Hawkins still won't be gone after the mushroom cloud he leaves behind.

After squandering my time watching both CU and UGA attempt to play good football this season, I can tell you that the outcome of this game is uncertain for both teams.

It boils down to how strong UGA's desire is to self-destruct versus CU's inability to find the passion and will to win.

The refs will be throwing lots of yellow hankies in a monumental showdown between two poorly coached teams that lack discipline.

Yeah, CU fans will whine and complain whether we win or lose, I fear.

But a win, oh joy!, a win would be stupendous. I have savored the Hawai'i win this extra week already. I admit it: I LIKE winning. I really do.

As Lewis Grizzard once said:.... This game is gonna be like "watching two mules fight over a turnip". It will be brutal to watch.

Both fan bases would be better entertained by a cage match no-holds barred fight between Richt and Hawkins at half time.

The stat line I'm curious to see is between QBs.

A. Murray. 16/32. 179yrd. 2TD 3INT
T. Hansen. 17/35. 201yrd. 1TD 2INT

Or vice versa.

No matter the outcome, I'm excited about our trip out to Boulder. Looking forward to exploring Boulder & the surrounding area.

THAT we can promise will be fun. Anything you want to see particularly? We are friendly hosts, especially pre-game.

After the game, we'll either be drowning our sorrows or stunned over the win and quietly avoiding sobbing and shattered UGA fans, so you're pretty safe in Boulder.

I don’t appreciate you coming on to our board and threatening us. :wink2:
If there is a god in Buff heaven, Hawkins will be fired.

the positive for both fanbases is that it's a 5pm Mtn time kickoff which means plenty of time for tailgating and drinking

I've been invited to a 10 a.m. tailgate. The host has not yet adjusted the time, perhaps it's a trap.
Self medication and all that.

Can we agree to both take losses so that we can turn around our programs faster?

5 is a really nice start this time of year. plenty of time to enjoy what is hopefully a typical, sunny Colorado fall afternoon around campus and the stadium....and the sun sets over the game about midway 2nd quarter and then it's "night game".

In the interest of full disclosure, Georgia fans should know that once the sun sets in Boulder, it will get chilly fast.
Dress appropriately. Consider yourself warned.

Thanks for the reminder from an out-of-state CU alum/Buff Fan! Can't tell you how many times I've been bit by the sun going down. Living in Hawaii and Texas for the last four years will make you forget the "little things."

Yep. Layers, layers, layers. It might actually feel hot during tailgating and the 1st quarter and give you a sunburn with that Colorado sun beating down on you (even if the temp is only in the seventies). But you'll probably want a sweatshirt or jacket for the 2nd half.

If Hawkins wins that'd be absolutely horrible. He'll be whining a day later asking for an extension and pay raises for guys like Riddle and Johnson. I hate to root against my own team, but Hawkins is a cancer to our program.

I don't care what the circumstances are, a true fan does NOT root against his team.

I disagree. Sometimes you root for the program. For instance, against Hawaii I was thinking at halftime that if we weren't going to win then I wanted the score to snowball into an embarrassing blowout that would be sure to get Hawkins fired. Does that mean I'm not a true fan? I don't think so.

And while I don't agree with Jerry, I'm not going to question his fandom. You're not on a Buffs message board on a Sunday afternoon during a bye week if you're not a dedicated fan.

I think we win a close one. I am worried about the nauseating optimism aftermath. Lets hope Bohn doesn't give Hawkins an extension.

You don't have to worry about that.

Really, our best case scenario is to beat Georgia for the big recruiting and fundraising weekend, then go 4-4 in the Big 12. We finish 7-5, Bohn fires Hawkins for not meeting the stated expectations of our Chancellor to make a "good bowl", and we have a new staff in place for the bowl season practices and putting the finishing touches on our recruiting class.

Or start to tailgate at 10:00am and be drunk enough by gametime that you couldn't feel a blizzard or a tornado. This also will help numb the dissapointment of watching two of the most poorly coached teams in the country have a self-destruction contest with penalties, turnovers, blown plays, bad kicking, etc. No matter who wins everyone will be frustrated by either their teams pathetic showing or their coach getting another undeserved win and prolonging his job tenure.

Pretty accurate.

I've got to admit, though, that as much as I'm sick of Hawkins' act in Boulder I'd enjoy seeing us play a great game for the 1990 Buffs on Saturday night. What I won't enjoy is that I would probably let a win get my hopes up for Mizzou and then have them crushed when they take us behind the woodshed with a typical Hawkins road/MU performance.
